Re: at what age to switch

Well if your yard isn't fenced then how exactly are you proposing for your dogs to be able to run free?? And why isn't chainlink permitted in your neighborhood?? That doesn't make a great deal of sense.

There comes a huge degree of responsibility to rottweiler ownership.....if it is your intention to allow your dogs to roam all over the neighborhood just because your yard isn't fenced, that isn't your dog's "right" to merely run amok everywhere. You will also quickly learn that the mayhem that untrained young rottweilers will create will either result in them being impounded and put down by A/C because of an attack or will result in a huge hit to your pocketbook in terms of fines you'll face, as well as civil liability for the damage they will inevitably cause.

I hope I've read your reply wrong and it isn't your intention to allow your dogs free in your neighborhood. It is your responsibility as their owner to ensure that they are exercised appropriately and safely both for their sakes as well as the safety of the other people and animals that live around you. If they have too much energy then its your job to train, teach, and exercise them appropriately....THAT is responsible rottweiler ownership.

Re: at what age to switch

no no that isnt the case at all i WANT A FENCE SO I CAN let them run free, now when they go out i go out as well an watch them. make sure they dont leave the yard, i odnt want n e of the neighbors to come over an tell me my dog did this or my dog did that when in fact they NEVER leave the yard unless on a leash or in the back of my car. they go everywhere i go. i have trained them to kno the things i want them to kno and if an when i see they do something i didnt expect and dont like i work on that as well. my dogs are great dogs. not perfect but great dogs an for the most part they what they can an cant do.

i am in the process of trying to find a fence of some kind that is cheap and is allowed in my neighbor hood. as far as the chain link fence goes. i dunno why it isnt allowed but its not so i cant go that route. i am sry if u thought that i let my dogs roam free but i dont. my neighbor has 4 little crap dogs an he lets them do that an i ABSOLUTELY HATE that he does. it really pisses me off so i dont let my dogs do it.

Re: at what age to switch

i thought i posted a reply to this. but no i dont let my dogs roam free in our neighbor hood. it isnt fair to the dogs or the neighbors. i keep a watchful eye on them when we go out to play pee or poo. i dont like them to leave my yard. i dont like to them to leave my eye sight. i try to make sure i can see them both at all times. i dont wry so much about my xena she is older and is a much better dog then zeus then agian there is a 2.5 yr age difference. zeus is learning alot from xena. he is a smart dog at times. i cant stand when people let their dogs run loose. the guy across the street from me does it and one of his little crap dogs came in our yard and licked my little girl in the face. she started crying and once i heard about it i told the guy if he doesnt keep his dogs in his yard we were going to have a huge problem on our hands.
