Hiccups

Not sure if this is the right forum, but my 12 week old seems to get hiccups a few times a day. There is no ryne or reason as to when it occurs. Sometimes itsw after eating, after sleeping, during play time or even if we're out for a walk.

Anyone have experience with their Rotty's hiccuping?

Awww...rottie puppy hiccups.
It's very common, and as they get older...it happens less and less.

Re: Hiccups

Not to worry. Lola had the hiccups so bad, I took her to the vet when she was a puppy. He said they were puppycups and not to worry and there was nothing I could do. She out grew them when she was about 6months. They just became less and less until they were gone. Once I knew this was normal, they became kind of cute in a strange sort of way.

Max (16 wks) used to get the hiccups atleast 3 times a times a day. Now that he is getting a little bit older I only notice them usually once a day, mostly after eating or drinking a lot of water (it's very hot here). Doesn't seem to bother him as much as it does me.

Re: Hiccups

Hehe Zeus gets them all the time still doesn;t matter whats going on. I was really worried at first aswell. When we first brought him home he had them constantly, asked my vet and he said its common and he will eventually grow out of them. There just like human babies.

Re: Hiccups

All my Rotties had hiccups also when they were just a wee little thing. Nothing to worry about.

Re: Hiccups

Static used to get hiccups after every drink, meal, sleep ... pretty much every event! We were worried as well, so brought it up with the vet - and as everyone has said, its perfectly normal.
he has just passed his 8 month birthday (yay!) and he hasn't had them for a while now ... so they will pass. Good luck with your puppy
