| Flea and Tick Prevention? My pup recieved her last set of shots today and the vet gave her a free dose of Frontline. Then they tried to sell us a 3 month supply of it for $90. My husband and I thought that was to high so we went on the web to find it. We see that they have different brands of this same type of flea n tick prevention. I was just wondering which people here use and if the brand makes a difference? |

| Re: Flea and Tick Prevention? When this first came out I asked my vet's office about it. I decided against it because they mentioned it can be harmful to cats (which I also have) whereas Frontline isn't. I use Frontline Plus and BioVets seems to have it the cheapest online. I can purchase a 12 month supply for a little over $100. I also know some don't use any chemicals on their dogs, but do protect against ticks by using a Preventic collar. Also, if you ever do get flea infested I recommend using Fleabusters. You can also order this online.

| Re: Flea and Tick Prevention? I would not suggest buying your meds online. Sure, they may be cheaper, but if you buy them in a vet clinic, they come with a guarantee. The manufacturerers NEVER sell to online pharmacies, so they are getting the medications from middlemen. There is no guaraneeing that the product inside is the product you are buying. The meds ARE more expensive through the vet's office, but if they fail, I know at least the company who makes Interceptor pays for all treatments required if your dog gets heartworm. We would charge $90 for 7 months of frontline for a BIG dog....You were over quoted. Also, I would only buy at most two months at a time now, incase your puppy hits a growth spurt and needs a larger size!
