Re: Home Cooked Diet-100 lb dog

You can boil it for about 10 minutes, or chop into chunks and sear it in the frying pan.
I gave my guys chunks of raw heart on their kibble this morning. Heart is a very rich muscle meat....so you should not give too much if just giving it alone.

My crew eat raw food also...and I can switch them from raw, to cooked to kibble meals with no problems. But...they are used to it.

For all of the meats in the recipe I cut up the meat into bite sized chunks...I throw it in a big roasting pan all together...and bake for for 30 minutes(stirring after about 15 minutes) at 375F.
I use the juices of the baked meat also.
If the meat is undercooked, it should be no problem for most dogs...and if you wanted to feed all of the meat raw you could.

For this recipe, to get the right amount of calories...they do need pasta, and the nutrition from the pasta.
This is a balanced recipe....it's important to use all of the ingredients, if you want to get all of the proper nutrition for your dog.

If you want to feed a BARF diet without any carbs, then you must follow the BARF diet.

Re: Home Cooked Diet-100 lb dog

All this input is precious, I am using home cooking for my dogs for at least 3 years.
Have a question : is there any special diet for a pregnancy period ? I am not sure yet, but I hope one of my girls is now at the beginning of it.

Re: Home Cooked Diet-100 lb dog

My dog has had diarrhea and throwing up when fed foods containing wheat. I might try to mix things up later, but think she will get one protein and one starch to see if a given combo works for her. Veggies and such added in too. I just want her tummy happy on a regular basis again. chicken and rice seems to agree with her in kibble, I am going to try that in homemade food. What is a good vitamin/mineral supplement to add?
