Re: Chicken Soup

There are TONS of posts on here about what type of food all the forum members feed. You should do a search, it will most definitely yield over 100 results. Never heard of Chicken Soup(dog food). After doing a good bit of research on the forums and other websites, we've decided to feed Canidae. Innova also seems to be a popular choice. There is also a poll of forum member's food choices on the site. Other members will definitely tell you that Iams is a poor choice. Until I joined the site I did not know that either. Good luck in your search, the best advice I can give you is to do your homework and make the call for yourself.

Also, welcome to the forums.

Re: Chicken Soup

I have heard of Chicken Soup but have never tried it myself. I used to feed Iams, until I started reading the posts here then I switced to Canidae (which in my area is about half the price of Iams) but I am currently feeding Innova (green bag) because it is easier to purchase in the town that I live. My dogs did wonderful on both Canidae and Innova. Definitely do a search here on food and you will find more information that you could ever imagine

Re: Chicken Soup

good for you to be finding a better food. I too have lost dogs, and because of the type of cancer, a strange stomach cancer, will only feed food that is made from human grade ingredients. Especially the meat source.

This is most of the better brands, Natura brands, and Canidae are the ones I use, but there are others. Chicken soup is good, I've heard, but compare ingredients. choose a food that has a good meat source first, avoid corn and salt.

Re: Chicken Soup

I used Chicken Soup here in Calif for a few years. It became harder to get in large bags, then I adopted a Shih Tzu with a poultry allergy, so I changed to keep all the dogs on one food. The Rotties loved it.

Re: Chicken Soup

I've fed Chicken Soup (puppy) and had lots of luck with it then in my area it became more expensive than Innova or Canidae so I swtiched being that Innova and Candiae have better ingredients and more nutrition.

Re: Chicken Soup

I have not tried Chicken Soup. All I can say is that I have had wonderful results with Canidae.

Re: Chicken Soup

I use Chicken Soup and love it. I tried Hannah on Canidae and it didn't agree with her, soft stool etc.

She maintains a good weight, good stool and shiny coat plus she never has gas.

Re: Chicken Soup

First one lived 4 years???

What happened???

I have had 3. One we had to put down at 15 yrs due to bad joints, etc. She was loved to the end.

My current one is 8. I have kept him under 100 lbs his entire life and give him California Natural and this large kibble called Prescription Diet T/D. The large kibble is for grinding to clean his teeth.

I had him on Innova but it was too much for his stomach and he got the runs!

I was also feeding him dry kibble with a scoop of canned California Natural, but I was concerned for his tooth decay.

I am now burshing his teet regularly by dipping the brush in Chicken Broth and letting him play with it before I brush. Works great.

Thanks

Re: Chicken Soup

I fed it for a while, and it is actually one of the cheapest super-premiums here. Even my super picky GSDx seemed to eat it most of the time, and of course, the Rottn monster eats everything. However, they were gassy on it (as in "clear the room stink"), so I switched. I think it's a good food overall, especially for the price (here at least).
