Has anyone tried Nature's Select line of foods? Jasmine (8 months old) did ok with Canidae but better with Innova, however she doesn't seem to care for the Innova at all and I find myself having to coerce her into finishing her meals (1 cup 3x / day) so I'm looking for another super-premium food. I'm considering trying Nature's Select High Protein for puppies. Normally I steer away from any puppy food but I like the higher protein in this one. I read through the ingredients and they looked good to me but I'm a novice so I could be way off. I did notice one of the ingredients its Beet Pulp Shreds and I've heard that's not a prefered ingredient in dog food but I have no clue why. If any of you have tried this food or wouldn't mind taking a look at the ingredients I would most certainly appreciate any input.

Re: Has anyone tried Nature's Select line of foods? Appears to be pretty decent. 2 things I don't like are Brewers Yeast and Yeast culture, but that's just me. I have read on here that you want to avoid Menadione, a Vit K supplement. But when I've tried to understand the research on that, I just get confused. So, I'm wishy-washy on that. Does it even have enough in there to be harmful? ...who knows. The website that I'm looking at the ingredients on doesn't list Omega 3 & 6 percentages, or what the Calcium and Phosphorus are (you want them to be close to 1:1 ratio for optimal, slow growth). Do you know them? Another way I kind of compare foods is to look at the recommeded feeding amount at a certain weight -- I use the 100lb weight for comparison. This shows that you want to feed 5&3/4 cups at the low end (for adults), which is a lot of food to get the nutrition to me. Typically you'll see the super premiums at around 4 cups (give or take a little) at the low end for 100lbs. That being said, most people don't truly give the recommended feeding amounts (usually less), but like I said, it's just one of the things that I look at and is easy to make comparisons with. I'm sure other food experts will chime in. Again, whatever ever food your pup does best on is the best food!

Re: Has anyone tried Nature's Select line of foods? No, I wouldn't say way off -- there are definitely a lot worse foods out there! If you have this in a local store, give it a try and see what you get. If you have other super premium options, then I might try another one before this one. Trust me, I have tried a ton of different foods -- no harm in it (except when the Nott-weiler won't eat it at all! ). Good luck in your search!
