| Itching mouth like CRAZY! My poor girl was up all night last night, with me at her side of course to try and stop her. Itching her mouth and muzzle. She also has more eyes goobers and crust. She has itched mer mouth so much she has scabs. I am thinking immediately allergy but what? Her food has been the same...EVO. I gave her benadryl because it was breaking my heart to see her in so much pain, I am doing oatmeal bath in about 5 minutes. She has been to the vet for mites, fleas and a tear test. I also added canned salmon to her food. UGH... HELP! PS - Started the benadryl about 16 hours ago and ZERO relief. Is this allergies??? |

| Re: Itching mouth like CRAZY! You already asked about this. http://www.rottweiler.net/forums/vet...eye-boogs.html Evo is a high protein food which dogs have a hard time breaking down the protein, body works harder, and immune system becomes compromised.

| Re: Itching mouth like CRAZY! I know I asked, in the vet thread which seems to get less traffic so I updated it in here. Thats not a bad thing is it? So basically try switching foods??? Iwill do that. What would you recommend to a dog who has a really hard time on most foods as it is, I tried Canidae and Cal Natural. What is good for sensitive tummy and allergies? |

| Re: Itching mouth like CRAZY! PS - I went out LAST night and bought everything you said to. We are starting that whole regiment as well. *sigh* I just feel awful for her and am looking for something thatw ill put her out of misery right now. Guess that is why i reposted here too. Thanks soo much for that post though it was MORE than helpful, much more helpful than my VET! *rolleyes* (looking for a new vet BTW) |

| Re: Itching mouth like CRAZY! Well.... you should go back to the original thread and consider the advice you got NOT to jump in and give the dog a bunch of other things before you get a RAST test done. That seems to be a little more prudent course, given all the trouble the dog is already having, if you can actually get an answer that way.

| What type of food bowl does your dog eat from? I also think before you start throwing all sorts of things into the food...you get the dog checked out. If the Benedryl is not working....then it may not be an allergy. Have the vet check for some sort of nasal or mouth tumor. Gina

| Re: Itching mouth like CRAZY! As far as food bowls go, stainless steel is the way to go. Ceramic bowls are porous and can breed staph bacteria; stay away from them if you can. Stainless steel are very easy to clean and if you have a dish washer, you can toss them in there about once a week. |
