Low Protein in Innova???

I have been feeding Innova large breed puppy.
Does someone know why there is only 24% protein? Isn't it considered a super premium food? I know the ingridients and everything else is great but the protein seems a little low for puppy food.

i was told to feed izzy between 26 and 28% protein. i don't feed puppy food - a use a premium adult food (not large breed). 24% sounds a little on the low side to me ...

24% is not low protein for an adult food but is for most pup formulas. Adults should eat 24-26% protein and 14-16% fat, pups should eat 24-28% protein and 14-18% fat

I do NOT believe in Large breed formulas at all they are a marketing ploy or for people totally inept at regulating their dog's intake to keep them growing slow and looking lean.

I feed a puppy formula -Healthwise puppy (made by the makers of Innova)to all my dogs until they are 18-24 months old and it is 28% protein and 18% fat and I strictly monitor weight and appearance and regulate intake and have NEVER had a problem in 21 years in this breed

Yeah, there are discrepencies in different manufacturers on what a puppy formula should be. Some think lower protein, slow their growth. Some have more protein, cuz growing puppies need it. Some just have a lower calcium phosphorous ratio for large breeds for bone health. Go figure, so who you suppose to believe?

IMO, a quality manufacturer's "all life stages food" should be fed.

that's what i've come to believe - in fact, the food i feed (life's abundance) doesn't even make a "puppy" formula.
