Give the new food a chance to start improving her coat. Give her a brush everyday and you will soon see the dandruff disappear.

New food usually takes a couple of weeks to show an improvement.

Re: My Puppy has Dandruff

too much bathing can cause it...dry skin.
food. and like previously stated, it takes about 4-6 weeks to see a change with diet.
brush daily with a soft brush, it helps stimulate oil glands and lose the dead hair and flakes.
use mild shampoos.
any fleas? skin rashes or bald spots? pimples? skin problems can also cause dandruffy skin.

i use dermapet malacetic shampoo. it works great for achilles. since i started to use it there has really been little or no more dandruff plus i also use their malacetic spray conditioner after his bathes. both have a great smell to them too.

hylite shampoo, hydra pearls shampoo or episoothe are 3 that are mild, detergent free.
rinse very thouroughly after every bath!

Re: My Puppy has Dandruff

For a quick fix you can spray with Listerine and water(the old yellow listerine)mix 50-50. This would be useful if you were going to a puppy match or something similar.

Re: My Puppy has Dandruff

We made the switch to Innova about 3 months ago. It did take several weeks before we saw any improvement. We've also found that giving her Fish Oil and Vit E have made a tremendous difference.

When we switched off of Canidae we didn't truly see a difference in the dogs coat condition for about 4-5 weeks.

We added salmon oil to the diet as well.

Re: My Puppy has Dandruff

My soon to be 19 month old Rott had a horrible case of dandruff! I was taking him to the groomers and getting him a bath monthly. Since I have stopped doing that it has improved immensly!!!! Hope that helps!
