What kind of brush?

What kind of brush should I be using onmy 17 week old little girl. I have the angled kind with metal Bristles. Is this the right kind. It doesn't seem to be doing anything. But then again she dosen't need much in the grooming way.

Re: What kind of brush?

I also use the furminator and LOVE it! I got mine at petsmart it's a little spendy, but well worth the price. I think you can get them online a little cheaper at amazon.com.

Re: What kind of brush?

I like the medium size Furminator. I can use it on my daughter's Jack Russell Terror and I can get around Daisy's neck and tummy better than with the large. I paid $50 at PetsMart. Worth every penny.

Re: What kind of brush?

I have a Furminator, too, and think it's great to get out undercoat, etc. Haven't really gone over the whole dog with it yet. What I had prior to that, and still like, is a brush I bought at the grocery store-- it's a Hartz product, bristle brush on one side, soft enough for the head, etc., and metal pegs on the other.

The brush you have is what I call a "poodle brush" because I first used one on my aunt's poodle. I don't like them so much for Rotties.... I think I tried one on Annie and SHE didn't like it.

i use a good rubber hand mitten with rubber bristles as my rottie seems to have a dislike with dog brushes with handles!!!!!!!!!!!!
mine is like a mitten that you place in your hand and groom your dog, my rottie thinks your petting her when in fact im grooming her,but im intrested to know about this brush your all talking about-sounds good!

Re: What kind of brush?

The Furminator is a de-shedding tool and should only be used on shedding dogs. There is a warning on the package. Heavy brushing with a de-shedding tool can irritate the skin. A good rubber curry brush is ideal for everyday brushing. It helps stimulate the natural oils and skin.

Re: What kind of brush?

Love the rubber curry brush...find it way easier to use and seems the dogs like it better as well. Course, I was also used to using curry brushes on horses.

Puppies dont seem to shed as much....but, your turn will come!!!!!! (any dog site that has thousands of threads on the best vacuum cleaners, has to tell you something!!)
