Talking Does anyone feed Technical?

My Rottie boy is 3 and has been eating Technical Lamb and Rice Adult for about 4 months and it seems to be improving his gas problem i was jus wondering how good quality it is. The variety of food is limited here!

Re: Does anyone feed Technical?

I changed Ruckus over to the Technical Holistic Puppy Brand and have recently switched him over to the Technical Holistic Adult brand - the holistic brand has chicken, salmon, fruit, veggies etc. etc. etc. .... Ruckus' coat gleams, for which he gets many comments, he is (as the people who stop to take a look at him say) "all muscle". I tried the Eagle Pack brand but he refused to eat it, he quite likes the Technical Holistic brand so I think I will be sticking with it for a while .... I have never noticed Ruckus having a gas problem. Hope this helps.

Patti & Ruckus.

Technical is a mid range food...not great , but not bad either. There is alot of grains and fillers in it.

What other choice of foods do you have? Maybe there is something better? You probably have to feed alot more Technical to your dog, then if you were feeding Innova or Canidae, etc.

Re: Does anyone feed Technical?

I fed it years ago when I worked for a store that gave it to us every month for free to feed our own pets to promote it.

I didn't mind it, the dogs ate it, but there are better foods out there. It is nice to support a Canadian company (at least it used to be a Canadian company, I heard they were bought by Heinz) .... but you can do that with better brands.

What other options DO you have? We can give you our opinions once we know what you CAN buy.

Re: Does anyone feed Technical?

I feed Oskar (11months) Technical Large Breed Puppy and it seems to be working for him. He has a beautiful shiny coat and no gas problems. He also gets to eat some wild salmon on weekends.

Re: Does anyone feed Technical?

Wow, glad to see another Atlantic Canadian here!

I just did a search on the Canidae website...they sell it at The Dog House on Duckworth Street in St. John's. The also sell Wellness at that store...

Are you near there?

Re: Does anyone feed Technical?

No I'm not feeding either to my guy right now but I know many people that reccomend these foods...I know a bag would likely last at least a month if not more (depending on how much your guy eats) so maybe the drive would be worth it? Then again with gas the price it is, maybe not!

There are a few rotties around here and my guy is on the small side so he's not that intimidating.

Rottweilers are not a giant breed and I would not feed it.
Technical and Royal Canin are the same company...one has just bought the other out.

Can you get the Technical- Natural Blend? It's a bit better than what you are feeding now....but not too much higher in calories. I believe the Technical Lamb & Rice Adult is 317 calories a cup, the Natural Blend is 338 calories a cup.

If you can manage the 45 minute drive, every couple of months....you should try your dog on Canidae or Wellness....they are much better quality foods and higher in calories. This means you will need to feed less food. You could buy a couple of bags at a time, and I know that the Canidae has a "buy 10 bags, get one free" deal. Often the store will keep track of the bags you have bought.

It's up to you to decide.

That's a good drive, especially in the winter.!!!!
You can rotate foods if your dog does not have a sensitive stomach. I usually change the dog's food every couple of bags....about every 3 months. I rotate between Innova, Canidae, EVO and right now he is eating Go Natural -Salmon & Oatmeal.

Re: Does anyone feed Technical?

Our dog has a gas problem and so far this technical is the only thing that has improved it, the Lamb and Rice flavour...
