Talking Food Suggestions for Sensitive Stomach

Hi all,
Deja Vu is 6 mo and we are starting to have issues with her food. She has been eating Innova (green bag) for 3 mos and recently she has developed what the vet thinks may be an allergy to it. She has major issues with gas on her stomach (gastorenteritis) and it seems to be related to feeding Innova. I also feed small amounts (1-2 T) at mealtime, depending on what is in the refrigerator alternating between yogurt, cottage cheese, frozen veggies, green beans. I have tried eliminating the "goodies" and she still has gassy reactions. It becomes so bad that she will throw up a meal and then she is lethargic for about 12 hours (when I feed chicken and rice to settle the tummy). Afterwards, she is back to her old self again. Vet has cleared her medically...after multiple tests and x-rays...so now it's back to trying to find a good premium food that her system can handle. We have also tried Canidae and it was too rich for her just like the Innova. Any suggestions and help as to an alternative food that would provide her with the same premium ingredients and yet be delicate on her sensitive tummy. In the immediate future, I have her on Hills ID from the vets office...just until we can get her switched. Thanks for the help all!

Re: Food Suggestions for Sensitive Stomach

There are so many good foods these days...it's like a needle in a haystack...Toby had "gut-rot" for months after an operation on his bowel. (obstruction)

I tried all sorts of foods and he finally settled down on Wellness Fish and Potato.

Do you have a reliable pet-food store?? The clerk should be able to help and go over the ingredients with you...I know our store is always good at recommending the right thing...Choose a food with few ingredients...that way there is less chance she has a sensitivity to something...

Good luck!

Re: Food Suggestions for Sensitive Stomach

My Jordan had allergies and a very sensitive tummy. We put him on California Natural and he did great. We eventually switched him to Solid Gold Hund-n-Flocken, due to availability, and he continued to do well on that all of his 11.5 years.
