Please, which are the no-nos to feed your dog?

I apologize for asking this, but I can't find the thread where one of you knowledgeable folks posted the short list of no-nos to feed a rottie - which veggies or other foods are NOT to be given to our babies?

Thank you for indulging my "Oldtimerz' disease"!

Here are some places that can help you learn what not to give to your dogs. One also talks about what plants could harm your dog if they got into them.

Thank you SO much, Cherry Heart!

I knew most of them already, forgot about the onions... but what still puzzles me is why they say no bones and no dairy products while so many of you, knowledgeable and experienced, do recommend both yogurt and bones.

In the case of my first Rottie, who was so healthy all her life, it was a treat, one cooked egg, one tablespoon of condensed milk, or yogurt, once a week or so, same went for knuckle bones...

Clarification, anyone?

Re: Please, which are the no-nos to feed your dog?

I checked out the two toxic food websites and they are interesting lists. I also found them to be a little confusing, and maybe because there is a difference between toxic and 'not good for them' food. For instance I've always heard that it is a bad thing to feed dogs corn. On the other hand I feed my dogs a vennison and potatoe (a listed toxin on "Known Toxic Foods for Dogs") kibble for allergy reasons. I was also surprised to see avacado on one of the lists.

Most cheeses are low in lactose because they are products of microbial fermentation, followed by some form of aging or curing. http://www.telusplanet.net/public/ekende/lactose.htm - Read the part about "Understanding Dairy Products".

As far as bones go, many people feed whole, RAW bones as part of their dog's diet. There is a risk of intestinal perforation, however small it may be...many dogs eat raw fish and chicken bones their entire lives without incidence.

I give my dog raw knuckle, marrow, and beef rib bones - any other raw bone she gets (chicken, turkey) is from a prepared raw diet that is pre-ground.

If you read closely, you'll see that the only toxic part of a potato is the leaves and stems. Any green spots on the potato itself are also toxic, but the rest of the potato is good to go.
