| Euk vs EP Hi, first poster, but been heavily browsing over the last couple of months when my pup arrived. She is now 16 weeks and coming on nicely. I have been feeding her Eukanuba along with some mashed vegies, natural yogurt and some fresh meat. Where I live a lot of the premium foods are not easily available so I am down to 2 choices - Eukanuba or Eaglepack. From all I have read it would appear that the EP is the superior choice, my question is should I put her on EP large and giant breed or go straight to the Holistic Ckicken? She has a great shiny coat and good stools at the moment so i will be interested to see if there are any differences when I change. Appreciate the help! |

| I think the Eagle Pack Holistic Chicken is a good food. I would not bother with the Large Breed or the Giant Breed. I know that the Great Dane dog people swear by the Holistic Eagle...and the ingredients are good. You want slow, steady growth for your Rottweiler puppy. I would keep up giving veggies, fruit, yogurt, a raw egg, and some meat.....but cut back on the kibble when you do give it. I think it's great when pups/dogs get a varied diet...they seem to take things in stride with food changes much better than dogs eating the same thing day after day. Gina

| Re: Euk vs EP Hi Gina, thank you for the reply, yes I have read a lot about the so called large and giant breed formulars and so far as I can see, all they do is basically reduce the calorific value of the food. The Euk has worked well on her and she is nice and slim (I think because about 40% of her diet is mashed vegies, meat etc to help fill her up) but after loosing my last dog to cancer at 6, we are doing alot of things different this time round - from vaccinations to premium food etc. I see EP now have a Holistic Large Breed food which has a high calorie count so I will get either the Chicken or this formula. I like the idea of changing her food around a bit too, from what I have read the Innova kibble seems to be a good product as well? Cheers Al |

| Re: Euk vs EP I fed Raelin EP holistic chicken for a while, she did very well on it, one of the few that she could tolerate (she has a sensitive stomach). Eagle make 2 lines of food, the regular (which has corn), and the holistic line, so be careful of which one you choose. Pukanuba has a lot of corn in it, and markets it self as a super premium food . It is not cheap food either!!Welcome aboard. It sure would be nice to see some pics of your little pupper!!

| Re: Euk vs EP crusader - I might be a little late but maybe this will reassure you with you decision with feeding EP Holistic. Our female was on Eukanuba and developed a really bad ear infection and was overly scratching when she was around 6-7 month. Before he ear infection got to the point where she was not eating and shaking her head constantly, we switched to EP Holistic Chicken. About $500 dollars later the ear infection was cleared up and we continued with the EP Holistic chicken, and 8 months later her ears are doing fine. As precaution we do (try to do) weekely early cleanings and make sure her ears are dried out after swimming or a bath. I would recommend the EP Holistic Chicken. |
