| Re: What is your puppy feeding schedule? Please don't restrict your pup's water. She needs it to help with the possible infection that she is fighting that was discussed in your other post. I feed Tara at 6:15 am and at 6:00 pm; 2 cups of food per feeding. Depending on what you are feeding your pup, you may need to adjust times and quantities, but I have had Tara on that schedule since she was 12 weeks old, and she is now 11 months. |

| Re: What is your puppy feeding schedule? Rhea's 18 weeks, we've stuck with the same schedule since she was 9 weeks old (except more frequent potty trips). breakfast: 6 am (1 1/2 cups of Canidae) lunch: 12 noon (1 cup) dinner: 6 pm (1 1/2 cups) Rhea drinks with her meal, but also has unrestricted water access: 6 - 8 am (leave for work at 8); 11:30 - 12:30 (lunch break), and 5:30 - 8:30 (home). Her bed time is approx. 9:30, so for the last hour I take the water away - if she seems thirsty, I give her an ice cube or two. On weekends or the days we're home all day, the water is always kept fresh and available throughout the day until 1 hr before bed time. Please make sure your pup gets enough water - summer time is especially hard on them and you must keep them hydrated.

| Re: What is your puppy feeding schedule? Nyla's 9 months and we feed her twice a day. At 8:30am and 6:30pm. We feed her canidae 1 1/2 cups per feeding. She also has unlimited access to her water. What I don't understand is why would some of you restrict your rotties water access????? Rotties need to be kept well hydrated & kept cool especially during the summer months due to their dark & thicker coats, it just confuses me? |

| Re: What is your puppy feeding schedule? I do not restrict water on puppies, ever. Once they are old enough to not be spilling the bucket attached to their crate, they have water 24/7.

| Re: What is your puppy feeding schedule? Now that Arwen is grown up (kinda, 1 yr) she gets all the water she wants. However, when she was a puppy I had to limit the amount of water she drank at a time. If I poured a gallon of water into a bowl, she would litteraly drink untill she threw it up, then would try again. She would drink herself sloshy, pee everywhere, and over all make herself not feel good. We had to gradually increase the amount of water she got and teach her that if she needed it, it would be there, but she didn't have to try and camel it away. I don't know if it was a result of the breeder not keeping down enough water for the dogs and puppies before we brought her home but the first time she had been done with a meal for 30 minutes or so and we heard her drinking water we just about cried with joy. She now drinks some, saves some and knows she can come back for more LATER. |

| Re: What is your puppy feeding schedule? I forgot to add: Rhea has a rabbit bottle on the side of her crate too so water is available when she's crated as well (bowls didn't work for us - kept spilling them). She rarely drinks from it, only if she is really thirsty (I heard her a couple of times at night)...

| Re: What is your puppy feeding schedule? I feed Nui 1cup of Innova in the morning 1/2c at lunch around 12pm then 1c at dinner. The bag says he should be getting 2.5 cups a day since he's about 30lbs at 3month and 3days. As far as water he has it all day unless he's in the crate for me to fun errands usualy no longer than 1-2hrs, and he sleeps at night i take the water away at9pm before bed he doesn't pee in the middle of the night so i guess it's working fine. If it's hot i'll give him some ice cubes in his kong toy |

| Re: What is your puppy feeding schedule? Okay, how about a feeding schedule for a 2 year old? I am trying 7am and 7pm, 2 cups per serving. Kinzie isn't a big dog, about 100 lbs. More? Less? Please bear in mind, this is only day 2 of having her, so I don't really know what she is like. Her last owner had food down all the time. |

It really depends on what food you are feeding...if the quality of the food is good, then you need to feed less. My Baxter is just over 2 years of age. He is 110 lbs, he eats Innova Adult and get's 1 and a half cups at 7 a.m. and 1 cup at 4 p.m. So he only eats 21/2 cups total of food per day. He also get's a tablespoon of yogurt on his a.m. food and few treats when training. If he get's any "goodies" (table scraps, pizza crust,etc)...I then cut back his kibble by 1/4 cup. What shape is she in? Thin? Overweight? Gina

| Re: What is your puppy feeding schedule? Um, she seems to be a little overweight, but I am sure she hasn't gotten a lot of exercise over the last while. She was in a bad foster for the last 4 months. I am walking her a bit more. I didn't realize that 100lbs was big, lol. My uncle has 2 males, and each are over 150 lbs. She was eating Kibbles 'n Bits, and I am slowly switching her off of that to Iams, with a bit of canned gravy goodness mixed in (in the am) |

My female (1 year) is 80lbs and very fit, I keep her thin and she looks just as she should. Kibbles N Bits is a horrible food, and unfortunatly Iams isn't much better. I did a calculation for a friend, and if she moved her dog to a Super Premium food like Canidae or Innova, it would only cost her 5 dollars more a month, and the dogs coat/skin would look 100 times better, have more energy and it can really help them live a longer better life. Arwen eats Canidae 2 times a day. 1 cup each feeding. |
