| Expensive Food Lesson! Our 3 mt old rottie took it upon herself to not eat for almost 4 days! I had her on Iaams Puppy formula and also ecanuba (ok spelt that wrong). I tried a few different things like added home made soup stock, blended vegtables and meats, ok a few bites! now for a puppy that eat 3 times aday this was werid. No other problems healthy wise and she had plenty of energy, wet nose! my son tried to shove food in her mouth! ok a few bites. That was it. Okay off to the vet! a bunch tests revealed no temp, no tummy problems, fecal exams no worms. So the vet brings on the canned yummies! sure that gets goobled up. Vet brings on the dry food! ok, a few bites just to make me look like a fool! ok she stops. My girl friend gets up and walks over the bowl, ok puppy eats out of her hand. By now I'm the laughing stock of the vet office!
Vet asked, have you been feeding her by hand a few days ago. I'm thinking, well my son did, but that was after she hadn't eaten for 4 days. Wait! I have been taking bones and yummie's out of her mouth to teach her not to bite, growl and to be handled during eating! ok, that was fine! but she got spoiled now the vet said. Also change her food.
Off to the pet store! ok, what do I get, I tired a bunch of different food prior to the lamb and rice Iaam's and ecanuba. So I was advised to try (Bil-Jack) you buy it frozen or dry. I bought the frozen as advised and you keep it in the food. Highly recommended by breeders! ok now it is in the fridge and I mix it with either the left over iaam's we have or "Authority" which I was advised to try. She loves it. At first when I gave her the Bil-Jack I thought she was going to take my hand off. Ok, remove the bowl, a few words and touching and she is fine now! Bil-Jack looks like ground up cooked hamburger! however I don't want to get into the habit of mixing her food like this. Nor do I want to feed her canned food.
Sure everyone can provide me their opion on canned food. Personaly I really hate what effects canned food does to any animal, I hate the smell, in the house and dog odor, not to mention the mess in the yard!
The vet has advises I change her food often, and frequently! go with the dry and mix it, add water, continue providing meating bones/vegtable's etc.
By the way! her coat and skin is more beautiful than I have ever seen. The ecanuba and Iaam's produced shin and health skin/coat. But I'm shocked at what her coat and skin looks like now. I almost have to wear glasses as she is so bright! I'm kidding of course! but wanted to say she looks georgous!
