Talking Opinions on Nature's Variety?

The local groomer I take Tug to, will no longer be carrying Innova (due to distribution issues). They do carry nature's variety, and I was thinking of possibly changing. I'd rather not have his food shipped--we have a great relationship with the owners at the shop, and Tug loves it there! What do you think? It looks good to me, but I'm not an authority in this area. They also carry the frozen raw that can be safely/easily rotated with the kibble. Here are the ingrediants for the prarie lamd/rice. Thank you! I appreciate this site so much. :)

INGREDIENTS
Lamb, Brown Rice, Barley, Oatmeal, Canola Oil (Preserved with Mixed Tocopherols and Citric Acid), Flaxseed, Menhaden Fish, Suncured Alfalfa Meal, Montmorillonite, Flaxseed Oil, Freeze Dried Lamb, Freeze Dried Lamb Liver, Freeze Dried Salmon Oil, Sweet Potatoes, Apples, Carrots, Peas, Broccoli, Cabbage, Kale, Parsley, Blueberries, Cranberry, Kelp, Artichoke, Inulin, Rosemary, Sage, Clove, Fermentation Products (Lactobacillus Acidophilus Fermentation Product Dehydrated, Bifidobacterium Thermophilum Fermentation Product Dehydrated, Enterococcus Faecium Fermentation Product Dehydrated), Zinc Amino Acid Chelate, Iron Amino Acid Chelate, Copper Amino Acid Chelate, Manganese Amino Acid Chelate, Cobalt Amino Acid Chelate, Calcium Carbonate, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, L-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate (a source of Vitamin C), Carotene, Thiamine Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Calcium Pantothenate, Niacin Supplement, Folic Acid, Riboflavin Supplement, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex, Biotin, Choline Chloride, Manganous Oxide, Copper Sulfate, Zinc Oxide, Ethylenediamine Dihydriodide, Ferrous Sulfate, Sodium Selenite, and Vitamin B12 Supplement.

Re: Opinions on Nature's Variety?

I feed the Prairie venison kibble (in rotation with the other kibbles I feed), as well as their prepared frozen raw, freeze-dried foods and canned. I like their diets a lot, obviously. My dog doesn't like their beef kibble, but he likes the others.

Re: Opinions on Nature's Variety?

Petra has been raised on this stuff and she's doing great!
I usually mix 4 medallions of the raw with about 1 1/2 cups of kibble.

Re: Opinions on Nature's Variety?

It's a great line of kibble. Their prepared frozen raw, freeze-dried foods are great too. I have had Cash on both their venison and chicken with very good results.

Re: Opinions on Nature's Variety?

Fizbin learned to track using the dehydrated raw lamb food. I loved that stuff until they doubled the price and made the pucks into medalions- too thick to break off easily. Other then that I love the brand.
When Misty was really sick with lymphoma and didn't want to eat- she would eat the dehydrated foods.
Fizbin and Cipher are on the Venison kibble- no complaints at all. On occasion I do the lamb kibble.
If it wasn't for the price, I would be doing the raw full time.

Re: Opinions on Nature's Variety?

are you in Eastern Mass? If so then your store should be getting their Natura foods (Innova etc) from the same distributer I have at work (Beaver valley in Pelham, NH) can't imagine what issues they could be having with them

Re: Opinions on Nature's Variety?

I'm in the berkshires. I would like to continue to go to the local shop here, as they adore Tug. As far as the issues they may be having with the distributor, I didn't ask! haha--I know that I can go to Gt. Barrington to Chez Pet for the Innova...but, prefer to remain with the "little guys." :) Thank you, everyone for the input!
