Pedigree

I feed my 3 1/2 yr old male about 3 cups of dry and 2 cans of pedigree. Am over feeding my dog or is it just about right he weights in at about 105lbs and is really active. Also is pedigree a good type of food to feed him I have been feeding him this for the last 1yr and he loves it.

I feed my adult female 3 cups of Eukanuba Large Breed Adult a day. A male may need a larger amount of food. I don't know. I have had good success with Eukanuba and swear by it. Its a complete food that needs no supplementation, (unless you need extra glucosamine, EPA or something for Dysplasia, etc.)

This topic comes up every now and then by different posters....pedigree is a food that most people here on the board don't feed. In general, you want to look for a food that doesn't list corn as an ingredient...and I believe pedigree lists it as the first ingredient. Many people here feed Canidae, Wellness, Chicken Soup for the dog lover's soul, Innova...lots of different brands. You can use the search feature to check out what people here feed.

As far as feeding amounts and weight....just feed enough so that the dog has a defined waist when looked at from above and a nice tuck from the side, it's ribs should be easily felt but not noticable when looking at it. 3 cups dry and 2 cans a day sounds like a lot of food to me, but the more filler a food has (corn) the more you have to feed. My 90# male eats between 2.75 cups and 3.5 cups dry a day, with occasional treats.

Pedigree® Complete Nutrition Dry Food for Adult Dogs

Ingredient Name

1. Ground Yellow Corn

2. Meat Meal/Meat & Bone Meal

3. Corn Gluten Meal

4. Chicken Byproduct Meal

5. Animal Fat

6. BHA/BHT

7. Wheat Mill Run/Middlings

8. Natural Flavors

9. Rice

10. Salt

11. Caramel Color

12. Whole Wheat Flour

These are the ingredients of the Pedigree Complete Nutrition Dry Dog Food. I did go to the Pedigree website and they do NOT list ingredients on their own website.
I went to the Natura website www.naturapet.com and went to the comparison chart...and got the ingredients list off of it.

It is a poor quality food with awful ingredients. I wish the company would spend some money putting decent things in their food instead of millions of $$$$ on advertising.
