| Peculiar Poop Problem I'm stumped about this little problem my dog has with pooping in certain scenarios. Maybe this is normal for dogs, but as this is my first dog I'm raising as an adult, I have no experience with this. So if this is normal, let me know and I'll just ignore it.
The peculiar problem is that my dog will get diarrhea after exercise...especially if that exercise is at the end of the day. Normally he poops 1-3 times before evening. Once in the morning, sometimes during lunch time either when I get home or my wife does, and usually 1 time after my wife gets home at the end of the day. By the time we go for a walk, go to dog class, or any other type of exercise for a reasonable amount of time, he's gone a minimum of twice. But without fail, as soon as exercise is done, out comes the diarrhea. If it's an especially streneous amount of exercise, he'll go a couple of times and usually the second time is straight liquid..no solidity to it at all.
I performed an experiment on Memorial Day since I had it off and he had 0 exercise for the day and no diarrhea. And as an added bonus, we went to dog class on Saturday morning, early, and by the time class was done and he was finished running around with the other dogs in the dog park, he had diarrhea...at 9:30am. The rest of the day..solid as can be.
He's fed between 2.5-3 cups of Innova Evo per day spread over 3 meals. When he gets treats, he normally gets Innova dog biscuits. We had been giving him a spoonful or 2 of cottage cheese at lunch to work on his sometimes resource guarding, but have stopped that and no change.
The one thing it could be is that he eats EVERYTHING in site. Toys, blankets, leaves, mulch, grazes like a cow, etc. I have trouble believing any of that is a cause as he's always been like that and this problem has only recently developed as the weather has gotten warmer and we can spend more time outside.
There have been no fecal vet checks as I don't think it warrants it right now. My theory is that the exercise just makes him have to go and what comes out is stuff that isn't fully digested yet. Based on no facts, though. :)
Anyway, enough with the ramble. Anybody ever experienced this?
