acting hungry?

I have to ask if acting hungry is a sign that a dog food isn't meeting a dog's nutritional needs. the flint river thread has me wondering. my dogs act like they are starving all the time. I have fed them several good foods, and they always act hungry. recently got the healthwise active adult dog food instead of the regular, hoping the extra protein and fat will help.

Re: acting hungry?

My dog always acts hungry and is ready to eat ANYTHING at a moments notice. I never have to prod him to eat.

As long as your dog is at a healthy weight and is peeing/pooping fine and is active, I wouldn't give it a second thought.

The only way I would feed more is if your dog is involved in some type of sport and is burning extra calories.

Re: acting hungry?

Our dogs always act hungry, in fact we were saying we should have named Jake "Homer" instead...like Homer Simpson...he sees food and does that slack faced drool pouring out of his mouth....dooonuuts thing
But the vet has told me their weight is perfect.

I would go by your dogs weight instead of how he is acting.

Depending on the age of your dog...I would be careful with this. If your dog is under a year old...you do not want him/her to have the extra protien as this will cause them to grow too fast.

Healthwise is excellent and my Elmo loves it!
