Feeding Sardines couple times a week

I See alot of post here saying sardines are ok to feed our dogs, but ive been searching to find out actually what kind, mustard sauce (no) since you should not feed mustard, is packaged in oil ok, water? What should i feed him?
Or should they be straight from the fish market with nothing on them?

thanks in advance,
Chris.

Re: Feeding Sardines couple times a week

I feed them once a week in olive oil. Asa just loves them. You can decide how much. I usually open the can, store in a container and put a few in his food. Tuna is another fish they really like as well.

I also feed tuna or sardines 2-3 times a week. Packed in oil. Sometimes I can find the sardines packed in olive oil and get those if I can.

Re: Feeding Sardines couple times a week

Thanks everyone, the sardines i seem to come across are packed in soybean oil, i drain off most of it, and mix half the tin with 2 cups kibble 2 times a week. Should soybean oil in small amount be ok? I just dont wanna feed him something thats bad for him.
10 mo. male, 90 lbs.

Thanks,
Chris.

I sometimes find them in soybean oil, too, and give them the same as the others. I don't drain off the oil because it's good for their skin/coat conditioning.

I would skip the mustard and stick with the oil.

I like to skip the stink and mess of tinned fish and I give my dog cod-liver oil in those little caplets. He wolfs it down with his food.
