To Much Meat on Soup Bones?

Went to the butcher today and purchased a Soup bone, there seems to be alot of meat still on it, should i remove some of the raw meat before giving it to him or is raw meat ok for him?
9 month old male.

Raw meat is fine - a lot of people here feed raw. If there's a lot, consider it a meal. There is usually some meat on the bones I get but not enough for a meal and I just let them have it - they love it!!

Oh meat on the soup bone is heaven...

My boy does have softer stools after a particularly meaty bone though.

Re: To Much Meat on Soup Bones?

Actually, Julius is out in the yard right now with a meaty bone. He's really enjoying himself.

I bet he'll enjoy the bone, but like Patty said...if there is quite a bit of meat I would consider that a meal.

Re: To Much Meat on Soup Bones?

Daisy gets awful diarrhea from meaty marrow bones. Just a word of caution.

Re: To Much Meat on Soup Bones?

I usually try and take out most of the marrow or meat (yes I leave a little ). If I leave too much he will get loose stool and an upset belly/gas. You know your dog and what their belly can take.

Re: To Much Meat on Soup Bones?

Brodie loves a good meaty bone. Fortunately his tummy does not seem to be bothered by too much meat or marrow.

Re: To Much Meat on Soup Bones?

Mocha loves her meaty bones but they don't like her so much...loose stools and toxic, noxious gas!!! So now she gets bones that are not nearly so meaty and they agree with her a little more. (still get the gas though )

Re: To Much Meat on Soup Bones?

You could feed a probiotic right before or after to help with the gas or a little natural yogurt. It will help with the stool and gas. Thats what I do with Elmo...no problems.
