Glucosamines, etc. ???

Our almost 7 year old girl has arthritis in her elbow. She has been on SynoviG3 for the past 1 1/2 years, with good success. However, she still limps occasionally so I'm considering a change. Has anyone had any experience with Flexicose? It is in liquid form and contains both forms of Glucosamine, i.e. HCL and Sulfate, Chondroitin Sulfate and MSN.

Re: Glucosamines, etc. ???

My previous bitch tore both her cruciates as a young dog and the vet warned me she may suffer from arthritis later in life. I gave her Glucosimine & Chrondoitin once she got over her surgery etc. She didn't suffer outwardly from arthritis at all and went on walking for England until she died.

I don't know whether it helped or not, but I do know she never limped once she recovered or struggled to get up as arthritic dogs can.

Another dog I had did initially suffer from arthritis from time to time. I decided to give her cod liver oil capsules as a regular supplement in her diet and from the age of 14 to 17 yrs she didn't squeak in pain again.

Re: Glucosamines, etc. ???

My mothers dog is 12 with bad arthritis (tore an ACL when she was 4); up until very recently a combo of fish oil and glucosamine from the health food store did the trick.

My 16 yr old mixed breed has bad arthritis in his rear. Even with pain meds, he is till weak but not painful. I just started him on Nupro Joint Health (which has glucosamine and MSM in it) after 5 days - it seems to be working, he walks faster now and a bit straighter.

Re: Glucosamines, etc. ???

I have not heard of Flexicose. I am always interested in what everyone else uses. My 2.5 year old female was hit by a car when she was 11 months. She had to have an FHO of the right hip. She has been on Sea Pet's Super Joint Formula since the accident . It has 1,000 mg of MSM, 1,000 mg of shark artlige and 500 mg of glucosamine sulfate. Neiko has done very well. I know it works b/c she went off of it for a couple of months when we moved from Texas to Georgia and she started limping and moving oddly. I just got some more of it in this week so she should be back to normal soon. She never limped while she was on it before. Here's the link for Sea Pet http://www.seapet.com/Powder.htm
