Nail biting

I happen to catch one of my girls grooming when I saw what seemed to me as biting her nails. I've seen her do this before, but haven't paid much attention to it. She also chews off the hair growing between her pads. Has anyone else seen their dog do this?

Both of mine do this (the nail biting), but not all the time or anything. I wish they'd do a more thorough job so I wouldn't have to dremel!
