Re: Switching Foods

I did a quick look for Canidae on the official website and it seems the only place that sells it in my area code is in Belleville - a 2 1/2 hour drive in a town 1/20th the size of the city I live in - go figure

I may call around to check stores here though.

I currently feed Nutro NC, and he seems to be doing well on it, but I'd like to check out an even better food. I checked about Nutro Ultra, but it looks like it only comes in small bags, which aren't much use with a Rottie, as we all know.

Edit: Looks like Lots more places carry Innova though, found a place down the road.

BTW how pricey is this stuff?

Post Re: Finding Canidae In My Area???

Innova is an EXCELLENT food !! I often rotate it with Canidae...3-4 months of Canidae, 3-4 months of Innova. The only problem I have with Innova is that it is more calorie dense then Canidae...so my poor ( tends to put weight on China), can only eat 3/4 of a cup per meal. She looks at me and looks at the bowl....and can't understand why she got so little food.

Often times, stores that sell Innova also sell Canidae or other super premium food. The prices may seem high, but they need to eat alot less food...so it's really the cost per feeding.

I feed Innova. Great food.

Many healthfood stores are starting to carry quality petfood, or they can order it for you...so I would inquire. I'm sure someone can get you the food you prefer.

Re: Finding Canidae In My Area???

They're currently redoing the store locator, so it might not be a bad idea to call......

Re: Finding Canidae In My Area???

If you can get Innova locally I wouldn't bother searching for Canidae. However, you can go to petfooddirect.com and mail order a lot of different brands. Home delivery on an auto-delivery schedule is really convenient and really doesn't add that much to the cost (maybe $10). I ordered Canidae through them until a local supplier here started carrying Natural Balance, which I'm very happy with.

Re: Finding Canidae In My Area???

We feed Canidae. The closest store to us is also about 2 hours away. I pay about 35$ for a bag and just drive up and buy three or four. Before that I was ordering online from www.waggintails.com the prices are good but then you pay a crazy amount for shipping. I am glad we go out of our way to get Canidae, it has done great things for us even though my friends think I'm crazy

Re: Finding Canidae In My Area???

It took me forever to find a store somewhat nearby that sold high quality dog food. I found two places that sold Innova and one was closed most of the time. Then I called the second place and she carried every premium dog food there was. I was so close to ordering on line becuz the only thing in my area including vets was science diet and Iams.
Innova cost me a pretty penny but then I realized that my dogs were not eatin as much and the bag lasted longer. Plus the outcome of their fur and just the way they behave (happier and a bit more energy) was noticeable right away. In fact Mindy put on 5 pounds in two weeks and I was impressed. She is a coonhound mix who was about 30 pounds underweight. Now she is almost to her normal weight and I wrote about her smell one time and the smell is getting so much better with her on Innova.
I am one who will claim it is worth every penny I put in their kibble it is so worth it.

Re: Finding Canidae In My Area???

We feed Innova also, approx. $40 a bag here in NE Ohio. I get ours from a local health food store approx. 10 minutes from my home. My boys love the stuff and I can also attest to their wonderfully improved health, fur and no more yeast infections!! When I told my vet what I was feeding them, they never heard of it so I brought down an empty bag so they can review it.

I also did this for my vet and gave them a pamphlet to read in hopes they would carry it. Yet they still say Science Diet. So I drive 40 miles to go get INNOVA
