what kind of brush do you use on your dogs?

I have a kong Zoom Groom rubber brush. I have to begin brushing my rottie more often. Are there any other suggestions for brushes that help keep shedding at bay?

A slicker brush is good for getting the loose undercoat hair out. Be sure to get the soft bristled slicker, for shorter haired dogs. I use that, and a zoomgroom / rubber grooming glove

i have found one of the best brushes ever! It's a slicker brush but has this awesome feature..the bristles retract allowing you to clean the hair right off the base.

I have a dual bristale brush - pins on one side, regular brush on the other. I also have a round rubber brush that is normally used for horses - works like a charm to get loose hair off the dogs. I have a slicker brush for our Lab/GSD mix.

If you can find one, a porcupine brush is great. It has indivdual hard bristles in a rubber backing, and each hard bristle is surrounded by natural hair bristles. Wonderful brush.

I have that, and 2 finishing brushes designed for horses that I love. Also have undercoat rakes, slicker brushes, shedding blades, undercoat combs, trimming scissors and thinning shears, black and rust chalk, black vaseline (great for callouses), and plain vaseline (great for toenails and making a face gleam). Of course the obligatory nail cutters and grinders. I love grooming my dogs, and spend at least a 1/2 hour a week when them up on the table primping them. They love it too.

Diddy, question for you, where do you find black vaseline?

I use a rubber mit on my dogs, works well for me. I occasionally go over them with a flea comb (sounds silly but it works up any loose undercoat and they enjoy the extra attention because it takes awhile to cover a rottie with a flea comb! )

My Cyrus has a long coat so I have to brush him daily or I have black clouds everywhere!

I use a shedding blade, undercoat rake, slicker brush and "love glove". Cyrus loves his grooming time.

I just use the shedding blade and I don't use a brush at all. Our grooming sessions are done exclusively outside so I don't have huge pile of whispees everywhere.

Places that sell horse supplies will usually have it, I got this at a dog show from a vendor there.

Curry comb and shedding blade here. Works great for all the fur in our home.

Why would you need trimming and thinning shears for Rotties?
