Re: Timberwolf food?

Have you guys heard about Innova dog food. I have been researching this and it has a lot of "real" food in it. The puppy food has tomatoes and cottage cheese along with meats and things like that.
Here is a site for it http://www.naturapet.com/display.php?d=foods-tab
Let me know what you think

Re: Innova Food ???

I feed Hercules this. I switched from another of Natura's brands, California Natural, to this. I think he liked the flavor a bit better than the Cal. Natural, but I suppose thats really hard to say. But, his stools did firm up a bit more on this food compared to the Cal. Nat. so we've stayed on it. I believe all of Natura foods are considered premium foods, and I would say Innova is probably a rival to Canidae.

Re: Innova Food ???

I switch between California Natural and Innova. Tried Canidae, and my dogs surprisingly just didn't really care for it.

Re: Innova Food ???

I can't say enough good things about Innova!

I've fed Innova the last 5 years and have seen quite a difference in the health of Kamen. He no longer has ear infections, coat is much healthier with less dander, he has great energy.

Our vet saw him last week, Kamen is going to 10 years old in September, the vet said it was like looking at 3 year old!!! Now I know genetics plays a role in this, as his father was long lived, but I do believe a solid diet deserves some credit too.

You won't be sorry using Innova!

Re: Innova Food ???

I think it's a great food. It's one of the foods I use in my dog's rotation schedule (along with Canidae and California Natural). It does have a lot of ingredients, which means that it's probably not suitable for some dogs with more sensitive stomachs, but if the dog can handle that number of ingredients, it's a great food.

Everything she said. Actually, it's not in my rotation at this time, due to a couple of dogs that find it too rich. But it would be, if they could all tolerate it.

Re: Innova Food ???

I feed raw, but, when traveling or as a fill in I use Innova. If I didn't feed raw Innova would be my choice.

Re: Innova Food ???

Thank you for your comments I really appreciate it. Our trainer gave us a sample bag of it and Sarge seemed to enjoy it. I am buying a bag of it this week to slowly switch him from his other. But I am glad you guys say it is a good feed. I also loved how it has helped your dog Troy with shiny coat and more energy. I just get so overloaded with researching things that it is really nice to have someone say you are on the right track. Again thank you.

Re: Innova Food ???

Before I fed RAW I used Innova also, I loved the way Nero looked. His coat was so shiney it looked wet. I will say that because there are so many ingredients you may experience some serious gas, well maybe not you but the dog might. If it's to hard on your dog, you might try CA Natural, Chicken and Rice made by the same company. The guy who owns the store where I get my food from only carries a food after he personally tours the plant and he says, they are just about the cleanest he has ever seen. Great choice of food. Good Luck.

I heard Natura owned their own facilities from one of my pet food stores. They say this allows much better control of the quality that they put in their food (some other places farm certain aspects of it out I guess). Not sure if it's true or not, but the pet store owner seemed to think highly of their products.

Re: Innova Food ???

I think that is true for the superior foods. Once a pet food company is purchased by big business out goes the quality. Notice Iams and Eukanuba owned by Proctor and Gamble and some of the other foods found in your local grocery stores or pet supply places they have little nutritional value. Worse, when you compare the price of a food like Eukanuba to say Canidae your paying almost the same and look at the differences in ingredients.

Re: Innova Food ???

Natura recently opened their own manufacturing facility. Most every other super premium is manufactured under contract.

Re: Innova Food ???

Again thank you for the suggestions. I do worry about his eating because he does seem to have a "sensitive' stomach. When he disagrees boy do we pay for it. Well I do farts and all. So I may check out that CA chicken and rice too. It is something I will not stop working on since he is only a puppy and I have lots of years to keep him healthy.

Re: Innova Food ???

Duce has a very sensative stomach esp. when he was growing. He used to give him Science Diet - I know I know . . . but he loved it compared to what the breeder gave him. Then Judy C told us about Innova & Duce loves it!! His coat looks great! Now he has gas but that is just him. . . we could give him water and rice and he will still have gas. Now some treats do not agree with his stomach, but I give a spoonful of plain yogurt and the gas is no more!!!

I can't say enough good things about this food.
