| Has this happened to you? Yesterday I gave Cyrus a corn starch bone for the first time and he loved it. But this morning he pooped twice (very unusual, sometimes he doesn't poop twice in a day) and it was very light and a lot softer than usual. He loved it so much I was going to get him more but now I think I will stick to marrow bones and kongs. Just out of curiosity...has this happened to your dogs?

| Re: Has this happened to you? I've found this with both of mine with a few different types of chews. Those dentabones were a big offender. I have to give them smaller pressed rawhide chews because Perle will eat the whole thing at one sitting and it gives her the runny poos. |

| Re: Has this happened to you? Yes. My guys get runny poop from any kind of "velvet" chew. Plus, IMO, they do nothing for teeth or breath. They like raw meaty bones much better, and they're cheaper.

| Re: Has this happened to you? I've never tried a corn starch bone. Over the years I've had great results giving marrow bones that I don't see any reason to change. The marow bones do everything I want them to do and all the dogs really enjoy them. |

| Re: Has this happened to you? A friend of mine gave Jules one of those edible Nylabones awhile ago. I think it was the spearmint one & his poop was all funky. Really loose & just not normal for him. He's never gotten another one of those bones since. They're like $8 & he devours them in minutes. Like RW said, Jules is just as thrilled, if not more, with a raw, marrow bone. ![]() Brooke

. All the above affect him to have a runny poop too. The much touted marrow bones Hercules doesn't seem to care for unless he can sneak it outside and bury it in the yard Of course, these are store bought marrow bones. I'm not experienced enough in grocery shopping to figure out where to buy real marrow bones. ![]()

| Re: Has this happened to you? I gave Cyrus an edible Nylabone (kind of like a Greenie) and it lasted two days!!! The Greenies last about 10 minutes with him. No issues with either of those. Just the corn starch bone, which was a present from a friend who has a Lab that loves 'em. Nothing, but nothing is as wonderful as a marrow bone! I have a freezer full at all times. |

| Re: Has this happened to you? I'll have to ask the butcher next time I'm there. I've never seen any out at the grocery store where I shop (which is a block away from my house). I'll keep the "soup bones" terminology in my back pocket too. I didn't know what else a marrow bone was called Also, I didn't realize the corn starch bone was different then the edible nylabones. Are those the ones that look just like the plastic nylabones, but are edible? Those I haven't tried yet so I'd have to take back my comments as I might have had the two confused ![]() |
