question about Canidae feeding

I went to canidaes website to see how much I shoud be feeding harley. He is now 28.8 lbs and according to their website it says
25-50 lbs. - 2-4 Cups

How much would be the correct amount? I dont want to over feed him since his bones are still growing. Right now I can feel his ribs and he has a nice tucked tummy and I have been feeding him 1 and 3/4 cups three times a day.
Of corse with him being a puppy he acts like he hasnt eat in weeks! hehehe Other times he wont finish it off (Which I know is normal)

Re: question about Canidae feeding

That 2-4 cups is only an approximation. How long has he been on canidae now? If his weight is good with the current amount you're feeding (and his stools are formed), I would continue that. It does seem a little more then the suggested amount but he just may be more active and require that plus as you said, he doesn't always finish every meal.

His stools are Formed and Firm, He has the pretty tucked tummy, he is somewhat active, We go on one mile walks tues, thurs, sat and then Sundays we go to petsmart and walk around for an hour, we then either go to the dog park (Only if no one else is there) And play ball, or we go to the park and walk around until he has just about had enough! hehehe
He has been on Canidae since he was 8 or 9 weeks old. (Once I found this site) Before that he was on Iams puppy kibble for two weeks. He is now 5 months old.

Re: question about Canidae feeding

I feed Rocko 3-4 cups of Canidae each day. Rocko weighed 39 lbs at his 12 week check up. He looks great, the vet says "he's gonna be big boy!". Rocko does the same, sometimes acts like he hasn't eaten in weeks then sometimes he doesn't finish his bowl. I'm getting him to walk with me more, he sure is a great looking pup!

I do not recommend one mile walks on a puppy that young, it can be detrimental in his proper physical development. At that age a puppy has not developed a strong skeletal-muscular structure yet, where joints, tendoms, and ligaments (connective tissue) are still tender.

I suggest give him 3 to 4 cups of Canidae a day.

OH! I had no idea! I guess I will back him down to a walk around the block. I didnt think anything of it since we are just casually walking.

As for the food I have been feeding him 2 cups 3 times a day for the last couple of days. is that too much?

If he's at a good weight, I don't see any problem giving him 2 cups of food 3 times a day. I also don't have any problem taking a 5 month old puppy for a casual walk that is a mile long, as long as it's not too hot and you're not always on the same hard surface like a paved road.

Re: question about Canidae feeding

Oh Ok! No half of that walk is on grass. We also stop every now and then for a small play session! hehehe I just CANT resist him! Plus we stop to talk to neighbors and we also HAVE to stop for the kids in the neighborhood since they cant resist a CUTE puppy! hehehe Good! I feel better about taking him on that long of a walk!
Normally when we get home from those walks all he wants to do is come in the house and have a romp session with the GSD and wants to play with my husband! hehe
