nipping himself?

Hi people
My dog chews at the same spots time to time on himself, also he has like a nervous shake in his front when he stands sometimes and back legs when he lays down sometimes. Does this mean he needs something else in his diet???

The chewing can be a food allergy or any allergy as far as that goes but the shaking I'm not sure about so it's best to mention it to your vet and see what he/she says. Does he have any other symptoms such as decrease in activity level, how does he seem otherwise?

Re: nipping himself?

Have you checked him for fleas? The rear end is a favorite parking place for fleas. Pick up a flea comb and go over him with it and see what you find. My dog will start to scratch and chew if she has only one flea on her!

As for the shaking, the way you describe it concerns me, but we can't see it. I think a vet should be consulted.

I'm not as concerned with his chewing as I am with the shaking and nervousness as you mentioned. All his symptoms may not even be related but the shaking and the fact that he tires easily would be a concern and w/o all his history and knowing him, we're not in a position to diagnose, except for MARYDVM bc she's the professional . I don't know when he last had a vet checkup but perhaps that would be a good idea and have his heart listened too but most importantly tell the vet ALL his symptoms and go from their. Let us know how he's doing.

Oh and the chewing at the back end as was mentioned maybe it's fleas or his anal glands are full .
