| Addicted to pig ears Nitro is 10 weeks old and she loves pig ears. I like them because they keep her from chewing on things she is not suppose to. My question is are these good or bad for her? She can eat one a day if I let her. Just wondering if there is something better or what. Thanks |

| Well they aren't great for her that's for sure. Very high in fat, sodium and no nutritional value at all. A nice knuckle bone would keep her occupied just as nicely :) and when she's older; she won't devour that inside of 30 seconds and stand there waiting for more. Think healthy from puppyhood on :) If just HAVE to give a pig ear to her....once every couple of weeks IF THAT would be more than enough.

| There have also been some warnings about salomenella contamination of the pig ears. The caution was for people handling them (special cautions for children). Instructions were to be especially diligent about washing hands after handling them.

| See that samanella thing and the other stuff is what scares me from the barf diet. I almost died of food poisioning and although I know dogs handle those bacterias better ....it still scares me to death ..but everything else on the barf diet I like and would like to try my dogs on it! But as far as pig ears go ...I would think the nuckle bone would be better.
