For those who feed Innova

Hi everyone, Czar is back on Innova and I was just wondering if any of you saw that the consistency has changed, IOW, it seems alot more gritty. I can remember when the pieces were smooth. I know this may sound weird but he's also bleching alot, something he didn't do before and I recently spoke to a friend of mine and she was telling me about her dog too not knowing Czar was having the same problem. Hers in belching and even spitting up. We don't know if it's a coincidence or if there is something different so I thought I'd ask you what you thought and if any of you were having the same problem. I am considering writing them to ask them if they changed anything or at least make them aware of it. We took Czar off his prescription food to try this and he is tolerating it very well and his poops are better then they've been in years:D , that's the good thing.

So if anyone has noticed a change in the food or their dog please share that with me, thankyou.

Judy

Interesting Judy...

Julius burps quite a bit on Calfornia Natural but he burped a lot on Canidae also.

I'm glad that you can get Czar off of the other food. I remember you telling me how much it was causing trouble with his ears. Hopefully the switch will help.

:)

I think it may be all the different ingredients and maybe he needs to adjust to a good food after being on that other, though the prescription diet served it's purpose and it aided in saving his life, so for that I'm thankful:D . As long as he doesn't throw up or have diarrhea I don't think I'm going to worry about it. I'm just happy he has normal poops FINALLY:D .

Well Brooke, overall the switch was a good thing. Thanks!

I called the company

Well I called the 1 800 number and I am to send 2-4 cups of the food to them so they can anaylize it, they will check it out and send me a report so we'll see if it's bad or what. Today Czar burped and with that was a mouthful of liquid and it smelled awful so they better give me some answers. I'll let you know the outcome. I'd still like to hear from somemore Innova people:( , if nothing else I'd like you to describe the consistency of the food you have. Thanks!!

Interesting Judy. I'm very interested to hear what they tell you...

Even though we don't feed Innova it was a food that we considered...

:)

We feed all the Natura foods here at the kennel so I went and looked at the Innova for you.

The kibbles are fairly smoothish but there is quite a bit of granular product mixed in like crumbled kibble.

This is pretty much the same as it has always looked for the last 3 years

You have to know that some dogs just can't do Innova. My Rotts can't , they get cowpie poop and nasty gas.

We feed California Natural Chicken for the most part here at the kennel and almost every dog does fine on it

I feed Healthwise Chicken and my dogs do great on that

Thankyou Diane, Czar was on Innova when he was a pup and did great and the last batch was o.k this bag for some reason is different . As for his poops, they haven't been this good since his illness, even when he was on the presciption diet they weren't good so I'd like to stick it out if I can but we'll see what they come up with, if they're honest. Thankyou.

I can't say that I notice a difference in it. Some of my dogs have had upset tummies and loose stools the last two weeks. There sees to be a doggie virus in our area though. Several people I know have had their dogs down with it, and they don't feed Innova. One was so bad that she took him to the vet. Vet is blaming it on the acorns and plant debri that they pick up this time of year. He told her it happens every year around this time. Do you have oak trees near? Just a thought.

I do have an oak tree but not in the area where he in confined in, not to mention the tree has always been their and this has never happened before so I can only assume it's something with his food bc nothing else changed, you know what I mean. He's not much for eating things outside either and the fact that someone else I know feeds Innova and we got it at the same place, could just be a bad batch so I hope they're honest in their findings if there are any. It sounds like it will be awhile till I hear back and in the meantime I have to send some to them. I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything:) . Thanks!

I did hear about the acorns and also walnuts can be a problem too.

I think the reason that the acorns are attractive this time of the year is because they are dropping and catching the dogs attention as they fall.

It will be interesting to hear the results from Innova.

Judy, I've been following this, and I'm just wondering......

Going from his prescription diet back to Innova might have been like going from plain rice for days right into Thanksgiving dinner. Innova is very rich, and you might find it better to try a couple of bags of Cal Nat first, and kind of ease back into the richer foods.

Just a thought.:)
