Canidae Switch

Okay I have finally been able to succesfully switch my "furkids" from Eukanuba to Canidae. My only problem is that they seem to be eating much much much less now.
Usually all three together would eat about 12 cups per day. That has decreased to about 6 cups per day total for all three!!!!! Has anyone else had this experience? I had problems in the past with lots of vomiting and diarrhea when I attempted to switch them over to Canidae, even though I would try to do it over a month to a month and a half by mixing with their old food. Not having that problem this time. Maybe I'm just expecting some problems. Their energy level hasn't decreased with the decreased food intake, hell it has probably increased.

Your dogs are eating less because they are getting more of what they need. When I switched to Canidae over another brand the intake was about 1/3 to half less.

Canidae in my opinion is the best kibble with a few other brands close to it that you can feed your dogs.

From what I've heard (can't go by experience, just now switching my babies from Pedigree to Canidae) that that is not unuasual. That's why I don't mind the price difference, because I know that they will eat less, and feel better! (sounds like a beer commercial )

As long as they don't seem to be losing weight, and their energy level is still the same (if not better!) I wouldn't worry.

I agree totally with both posts!! I just switched to Canidea,(actually I am finishing my first bag) and Hannibal is eating SO much less that at first we thought something was wrong with him! :D It is amazing the difference in him in EVERY way, less poop(they are bigger but fewer) :D , NO STINKY puppy, eating 1/3 less, and his teeth are pearly white. I love Canidea and won't EVER switch.

I was finally able to find Canidae in my area and switched over a month ago. My dogs were already eating a good food, though Canidae is better. Their coats were nice before, but I have to admit that I have to wear sunglasses to look at them now because they gleam so much. Most of my dogs are on the same amount as they were with the other food. I've only decreased the amount for Scorpio because he gained a little weight. I'm still going through about 60 lbs. per week.

Every time I go in to buy my dog food, there's only one or two bags of Canidae. Today when I went in, I asked the store owner if it was a very popular food there since there's alway only one or two bags. I was shocked when she told me that I'm the only customer who buys it! Especially since there was a man in front of me in line who was buying a 20 lb. bag of a lesser brand of food and paying $4.00 more than I was paying for a 40 lb. bag of Canidae. It wasn't even a special diet formula. I felt like telling him that he could get a better food for less money, but I was so surprised by the price he was paying that I was momentarily rendered speechless.

I have had both of of my dogs on Canidae now for about three months or longer. I of course did the mix thing gradually so there was no diarrhea or vomitting, They both eat a lot less and at first they went on strike and did not eat at all. I know this is one of the best foods to buy, Thanks to you people on this sight! I read up on the "OTHER" brands.

It is gross what is out there. I am glad to read about other dogs eating less now I will not worry so much. I also noticed my dogs poop more but it always looks very healthy!

It makes me happy to see them happy!
