Food Question

I am in the process of researching the best (if there is such a thing) brand of food for my Rott. The brands I am interested in are Wellness, Canidae (did I spell it right?), Innova, and Bil-something (I had the name in my head this morning, but now it's gone). Can someone offer me some feedback on these. I've gotten some feedback on Canidae from a prior posting, so I'm really interested in the other three. Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Have you read thru all the postings in Nutrition & Grooming, including the archives? The merits of the foods you mentioned, foods you didn't mention, BARF, various supplements & treats have been discussed extensively.

I'll go ahead and post my experiences. I have a male Boxer 9 weeks old, a male Rottweiler 1 yr, and a female Great Dane 6 months old. I fed my Rotti and GD Eukanuba and then slowly swithced over to Nutro and had many problems with vomiting and diarrhea. I went back to the Euk and had no problems. I attempted to switch to Canidae. I again had vomiting and diarrhea. I then switched back to Euk. no problems. All the switching from Euk to the others (not good for them) was done very slowly over like a month to a month and a half. The switching back to Euk was done cold turkey and no problems. I have been paying almost $50.00 for a 40# bag of Eukanuba. I have to drive about 50 miles for Canidae I buy it for $32.00 a 40# bag. If I buy in bulk it's much cheaper than the Eukanuba. I have been able to make the switch now. They have had no vomiting and no diarrhea and have been eating the Canidae for about a month now. The only difference I see is that their energy level has increased and their intake has decreased by about half. The Bil-Jac food is also really good from what I hear.
If you decide to do the BARF that was mentioned be sure to do lots of research and go with only high quality meats. I tried BARF'ing my dogs and it was way too much work and money and the dogs hated it.
Good luck.

I have had great experiences with Innova, check out their website at www.naturapet.com.
It's as good as any food out there...in my opinion. :)

All the foods(with the exception of Bil-Jac) you mentioned are high quality kibble. See what is available around you for a reasonable price and give it a try.

You already know about canidae (one of the best if not the best kibble imo).
Wellness - very good food with very good ingredients althought it has so many ingredients that there may be a bigger chance that the food won't agree with you dogs. They bake the food and by that they try to justify higher price. They claim baked is better, although they can't prove it.
Canidae, wellness, innova, solid gold...and few more....put your dogs on one of them, and you will be giving your dogs one of the best kibbles out there.
My vote is for canidae.

I feed Canidae. Wellness and Innova are also good. But I'd have to say, stay away from Bil-Jac. :p

I feed barf and really like it. I used to feed Innova and if I had to go back to a kibble it would be Innova.

My vote is for Canidae :) I have had nothing but positive outcomes from feeding this kibble. I would offer some info. on the other kibbles, but have not had any experience with them.....

Good luck with your search! ;)
