couple questions...

I wanted to see if anyone else had a problem with diarrhea after walks? I have noticed that Gates always has diarrhea when we get back from a long walk. Seems to be happening more now as well, even without the walks. In the morning her poop is soild, but when I let her out at lunch it's runny again. I have been feeding her the same brand of food since she was 8weeks old. Is it possible that her body doesnt like it anymore? She is 10 months old now, and weights about 81 lbs, which I think is a bit much, so I have also decided to cut back her food from 8 cups a day to 6 cups, is this going to be enough for her for a day?

Thanks all!

Definitely cut back to six, and maybe more! How do her ribs feel to you?

ribs?

I should feel ribs? Kidding. I can feel her ribs, but just barely, and I really can't make out individual ribs.

Is 6 cups a day enough? When I give her the 3 cups twice a day it seems like so little...

Depends on the food. Canidae, at her age, 4-6 cups. Purina, 7-8. Eukanuba, somewhere in between. Of course there are a thousand variables, so you have to play with it, but the ribs are usually your best indicator.

Sounds like she may be over weight, LOL. What kind of food are you feeding? A lot of the foods like Eukanuba or Purina are full of stuff that just goes right through the dog so if you feed a better quality food, you actually can feed much less food and they will use more of it.

Dropping to 6 cups

I'm going to drop to 6 cups a day. I feed her Natural balance

Description

I also noticed tonight, while trying to get a grip on grooming, that her skin is a little bit dry. So I think I am going to start adding some omega3. In the meantime I put 2 cups of her food, and a can of tuna in oil.

I have other questions that I am going to be posting tonight as a result of this little adventure we had tonight.:(

I feed my soon to be 1 year old 2.5 cups twice a day of Canidae. I think she looks just right weight wise, but if you're really worried about Gates weight, post some pics in chit chat and sometimes you can tell just by looking at her waiste line. Besides, I wouldn't mind seeing how she looks now at 10 months old! :D
