eagle pack nutrition

Hello everyone,

I just got my 1st rottie puppy, the breeder recommended for the Eagle Pack Large & Giant Breed Puppy Formula 23/12. What would your advice? Is Protein and Fat enough for the 8 weeks old puppy?

Crude Protein min. 23.0%
Crude Fat min. 12.0%
Crude Fiber max. 3.5%
Moisture max. 10.0%

Calcium min. 1.5%
Phosphorus min. 1.0%
Vitamin A min. 22,000 IU/kg.
Vitamin E min. 300 IU/kg.
Glucosamine min. 800ppm
Omega 6 min. 1.6%
Omega 3 min. 0.17%*

Thanks,
Steve

I would consider Eagle Pack to be a decent food. I don't like the idea the of the first 3 ingredients (and they are listed in the order of the most to the least), only one of them is a meat or meat byproduct. It is preferred that 2 of the 3 be meat or meat byproducts and it would be even better if the first 2 were.

There is also a lot of controversy of feeding a puppy formula to puppies. Some people won't do it. I have mixed feelings about it.

Hi there Stevenh,
I started my pup our with the Eagle pack "Natural" which was also 23/12. I have since then switched to the Holistic brand the Eagle Pack carries and am very happy with it. As you can see it is a little higher in protein and fat.

good luck with your new pup!

I feed Eagle Pack. The Holistic is good as well as the lamb meal and rice formula.

They also have a new formula that I like very much; Holistic Select,
made with anchovy (and two other types of fish that I can't remember off the top of my head) with oatmeal. Also no by-products, chemical preservitives, corn or wheat etc. as in the regular holistic.

I feed the Holistic Select also. Great food. He does better on it than Canidae. I noticed on one of the bags I bought that it said "Human Edible, not just Human Grade"

I know on the bag it has feeding instructions for puppies and they also have a puppy formula and coupons.

Here is their webite:
