Brewers rice?

I thought there was a thread on this, but I searched and searched and couldn't find it.

I just read a vet's site that questioned the ingredient brewer's rice. Is Brewer's rice beneficial, and if so, how?

Brewer's rice is a waste product of the alcohol industry...can't see where that'd be beneficial...

From the Flint River Ranch website:

High-quality food should not contain the following:
Food fragments. Fragments are lower-cost by-products of another food manufacturing process such as brewer's rice (a waste product of the alcohol industry), wheat flour, and rice flour. Most foods contain at least one fragment as makers attempt to keep the food affordable. Beware of a product that contains several fragments of a single food.
