| A couple of questions I was wondering if anyone knows for sure if aloe is dangerous in any way to dogs. Wookie always seems to have very itchy skin (asked vet and she said that it's just itchyness not fleas or any other problem) and also after we give Wookie a bath her fur gets all frizzy and wierd and she seems to know that she looks silly and doesn't like it. Aloe is a moisturizer so I thought it would help with the itchy skin if it's just from dryness, and I use aloe to make my hair less frizzy and thought it would work for her too, but I don't want to try it without knowing if it could hurt her. Also I read somewhere on this forum that someone's dog likes to play with bubbles and would like to try it with Wookie. I was wondering if you need to get special bubbles or if normal ones are OK (not toxic or anything). Thanks, Polly(Wookie's Mom) |

| How often do you bathe her? Might be too much. I don't think it would hurt her, as I've seen aloe in a couple of newfangled dog foods. And by the way, could her food be causing her itching? Changing it would be an easy fix. If you're talking about the bubbles that my little nephews use, they're non-toxic, and would probably be okay.

| We got bubbles for our dogs at PetSmart - They were bacon flavored. They loved it and they were really funny to watch. However, with all the toys the little bubble gun got broke, thanks to my big kid Jbach. He just couldn't leave it alone.:D Gotta go buy a new one.

| You may want to switch to a hypo alergenic type of shampoo to wash her in. I use F1R2 for dogs and cats and it leaves their coat feeling nice and soft but not frizzy. Aloe is a natural plant and is even used in some creams that are ment to soothe itchy skin so it is fine to use on her. I would also look to what you are feeding her that could possibly be causing the itchy skin. Do you give here any supplements like any oil? |

| I have applied fresh Aloe from my garder on my dogs because of rashes underneath the body, and I think it is because of sleeping on some dilute bleeching agent that was used to clean the floor. There is no problem with reaction with Aloe, but I have found that my dogs' coat are great with fish oil in their diet and their skin are also healthier.

| Thanks! I just wanted to thank everyone who replied. I usually look at this forum at work where I'm not supposed to be on the internet so it took a while to get back to ya'll. I finally convinced my SO that we don't have to give her a bath everytime she gets a little dirty and it seems to be helping with the itchyness. We got the BBQ chicken flavored bubbles and she loves them (when she can catch them...). |
