| Dandruff - dandruff - dandruff ??? Now I want to do a serious investigation. As you all probably know my Ambrosius eats the medicine Imurel (to keep his bad immune system under control). This CAN be a factor to his dandruff some days BUT I just have to ask you all about following: Does YOUR rottie dandruff when: - being combed and lies on the back ENJOYING this treatment. - being pet (soft massage) and ENJOYING it. - being upset over another dog. etc.... This dandruff thing is peculiar because it can appear in seconds... one second the fur is shiny and healthy, the next second it is full of dandruffs. On different spots on his body (e.g. on back where tail sits, on his shoulders...) What are your experience of this??? He doesn't seem at all bothered by it. I can not comb it away but have to wet a terry towel and dry it off from his body. After that the fur looks ever nice and fine again.... strange. He has shown this for several years. |

| My dogs will tend to "dander" when put into a stressful situation. Even our most seasoned show dogs will sometimes dander at the shows once in awhile. They don't seem to dander when they are not stressed. Sharon Marples

My Ben gets dandruff more in the winter when it's dry in the house, and also when in a stressful situation (most often it was at the vet but now he loves that). I use a humidifier in the house in the winter, and he also gets more supplements for his skin/coat in the winter (I forget what they are called). |

| My girl doesn't have a dandruff condition at all. I do give her a lot of supplements in her mostly raw diet and I groom her at a minimum of every other day with this rubber nubbed thing that stimulates her skin and coat. She also seems to like it quite a bit. |

| My bitch would get dandruff around her seasons. I don't know if it was because of hormonal changes, stress, or both. Dry flaky skin can be caused by many many things including food, dry air, allergy's, etc. |

| to unyverse2000 No, I don't say that it IS so... I just tell that my Ambrosius react like this. But he is far far away from being a stressed dog. However, he has an immune-disease forcing him to eat this Imurel medicine for the rest of his life and therefore it CAN be an side-effect with dandruff some days... The strange thing is that when he gets it it disapears in minutes. He does not seem to bother about it at all... fur is shiny and fine. Temper is good. Never scratching (so I do not think that it itch at all). Seems as if he LIKES when I brush him and all dandruff falls down to the floor actually. |

| Phoebe was a dandruff machine when she got stressed! A visit to the vet would practically have little white flakes popping off her fur, and she got a terrible case when Bosco died. Normally her coat was nice & shiny, definitely stress in her case. Like SouthernRotts said, can also be dry air, seasonal allergies, not enough fat in the diet...
