Worried puppy is 9 weeks old, since I got him a week ago his eating has been sporadic at best :( ...even after I come home home and release him after six hours he shows no signs of hunger or appetite even hand fed his doesn't take. No signs of diarrhea, vomiting or lethargy yet, assotiated with parvo which is what came to mind initially. Headed to the Vet but just wanted to put my concerns out there for some feed back.

What are you feeding him? Have you tried feeding him anything else? Is he losing weight? Are his stools normal? Taking him to the vet is a good idea, he may have worms or something else going on.

You're doing the right thing by taking him to a vet. Keep us posted on what they say.

Have you contacted his breeder to see what they have to say? Was he seen by a vet when you first brought him home and if so, was he given a clean bill of health? Is the food you are feeding the same as the breeder fed? Sorry for all the questions, but there are so many possible reasons for a puppy's lack of appetite that it's hard to venture a guess. I'd get him to the vet in any case so if there is something amiss, you can get it taken care of. :)

How is the pups demeanor when you arrive home? Is he puppy-like; very happy and very excited to see you? If the vet was satisfied with the pups general health, then maybe the pup is missing his mom and littermates and you! Especially if he's spending 6 hours alone daily in the crate. Please be sure to let us know the outcome of the vet appt. Best wishes - kathy

Thanks everyone...Vet and my ife both agreed, that I might have over reacted. But none the less Vet said he is fine health wise although slightly under weight but, changed his food and he is eating much better than he was... sorry for the panic but it has taken me four years since the loss of my last Rott who I had for 12 years,to be able to handle having another. So a little over protective parenting I am sure I am guilty of

There is nothing wrong with being over protective. It just shows that you really care!:D

| It is the "over protective" owner who is aware and catches a little thing before it becomes a big thing! Nothing wrong with that. Just as long as it does not manifest into a OCD!;) Good luck with your new dog. Post some pics when you get a chance we all love to ooo and ahhh.
