| Change in coat condition when in season? Hello, We have a 2.5 year old un-spayed female rescue. We believe she may be coming into season soon; 1) Can coat condition change prior to her season - Bronte`s coat has become drier and the hair `stiffer` especially on the back legs / belly over the last 2 weeks or so. No change in diet, although the weather has become warmer recently. 2) Can a season be `skipped` or much reduced by upheavel just prior to her season? ie Us rehoming her! No real problems just interested as we have not had an `intact` female before........ |

| yes., Bitches will usually "blow" their coats prior to coming into season.... some will even lose their markings during the shedding, and they will return with the new coat growth. Did you obtain her through a rescue organization, or was she "found" by you? If she is already in season, PLEASE keep her on lead any time she is outside. A bitch in season will go to great lengths (climbing or digging under fences - I even knew one that went through a plate glass window to get bred) to reproduce. If she has not started her cycle yet, please get her spayed immediately!!!!!!! If she has, please do so once her cycle is done. Regards, Elisabeth |

| Re: Change in coat condition when in season? would coming into season and the warmer weather have anything to do with excessive shedding? When she came in season during the winter months she shed very little. This is a very unusual blowing. |

| Re: Change in coat condition when in season? Skuly shed quite a bit when she was in heat around late Feb/early March. She dropped hair everywhere. If you ran your hand down her coat, you would get a handful of hair. You could have two things going on, the warm weather and your dog being in season.
