Dogs nails

I don't know, is it just me or are you as bothered by seeing dogs nails long or is it just me??? I see some nails that are so long they push up when they walk, you know what I mean, thats gotta hurt. I just want to say, will you please cut your dogs nails or better yet, I'll do them, lol. Why am I so bothered by this??? See what you did to me Judi W. :D , I do Czar's nails on a regular basis so that's what I automatically look at whenever I see someones dog;) . I didn't know if it bothered any of you seeing long nails.

It bothers me, too. Like you said, you just have to do them regularly to keep them under control.

When we got Ilsa last November, her nails were so long we could have airbrushed pictures of palm trees or something on then like women do with acrylic nails. We've been doing them weekly, and they are now getting to a reasonable length. However, it's a slow process, so if they are still longer than ideal in August, don't get on my case, OK? ;) :D We'll get there eventually, I just want to do it without quicking her all the time.

I clipped Parkers quick a couple of weeks ago. :( I HATE black nails!!!

That's it - I'm going to start a breed of Rotts with white nails!!! LOL

Well, no I won't - but a girl can dream!! ;) And no - it didn't stop me from clipping the rest. ;) We do them once a week and he doesn't mind a bit. :)

Miabella, you have a different story and the only thing you can do is what you're doing to recede the quick, slow but sure and you may never get them real short but at least you can get them so she won't be uncomfortable.

You're right Trish, black nails are the pits, I'd give anything to have a dog with white nails, so easy to see the quick. My parents have a boxer and his are white, they're a breeze. My hubby and I do them for my parents:D with a dremmel.

Turn the foot over and work while looking at the bottom of the nail. No problem seeing where the sort part starts that way.

It bothers me almost as much as seeing men with long scraggly nails

I haven't seen it on a Rott, but I have seen small dogs with deformed feet from nails WAY too long. I suppose it could happen to a large dog too. I think I'll go trim nails.:)

I just got done dremmeling Xena's nails yesterday. They got longer than I like, due to being soooo busy with our move. It was driving me crazy. I can't stand long nails. Not only do they look horrible, they FEEL horrible, too! I was playing with her the other day and she scratched my leg really bad! OUCH! She usually gets a trim once a week, and now that things are not so crazy, she'll be getting them done once a week. :D

Long nails drive me insane! The first thing I do when I am fostering or watching a dog is do their nails. When I work at my doggy daycare, there are some dog's nails who get so long, we go in spurts and do almost all of the dogs nails, as long as we don't thing the owners will mind. Especially the ones who like to jump! They get their nails done first

I swear I am up to clipping almost twice weekly now... I am no freak and the nails are not as short as I want them to be... ( I am trying to get them to what will someday be required for therapy work)...

What bothers me is no matter how much I keep them cut, there are two nails on the inside on each foot that just keep growing inward...

I cannot imagine how people can not cut their dogs, as much I have to if I relied on a groomer, they would be rich... :D

Great idea for your rottstock Lisa... make sure Czar and Judy get a nice booth for their nail clipping job's. you can call it.. what a great idea.. :D :D :D

ohh I'm so embarrased.....

I'll make the sign and we'll be first in line.....

Hey, but this is great! I owe the dogs big time for a little trip they made their mother take this weekend....(face down on the floor....2 black eyes, you get the idea...and BTW, I'm sure the overlimit of beer drinking had NOTHING to do w/it...)

HAHAHA - nails, I've been putting this off, waiting for the right time... pay backs......

We're on now....

Kathy
