Mosquito reppelent???

We have lots of mosquitoes in the evening till morning, everyday, 365 days a year.
My dogs (including me) would have to donate our blood if we stay outside the house at that time.. :D
What's the best mosquito reppelent for dogs to be used daily??
Thanks..

I'm no expert as far as dogs go, but something that I've always used on my horses and myself is Avon Skin So Soft. It doesn't have the terrible smell of OFF! or other repellents, and is actually good for the skin (moisturizing). I never noticed any damage or ill effects on the horses' coat from this either. You might want to give it a try.

I use a tablespoon of Skin-so-Soft diluted in water as a final rinse on my dog after a bath (and yep, used it as a bug repellant for my horse first). We don't have much of a mosquito problem here so I can't say how well it works on them, but I can say it works for other bugs! :) Another thing I've heard to repel mosquitoes is to use a fabric softener dryer sheet and rub it all over.

I'm very concerned about it since a local dog died last November of the West Nile Virus. I saw a commercial for that K9 Advantix which claims to repel mosquitoes before they can bite. Has anyone used this? Also, I was wondering if it and Sentinal can be taken at the same time or if Sentinal does essentially the same thing. Anybody know?

How to imply without a bath??
We have enormous mosquitoes 'attack' daily. Do I need to put the skin so soft everyday to my dogs??

Mix up 1 tsp in 5 oz of water and put it in a spray bottle. Shake it up each time right before you spray it on and that should work just as well! To put it on your dog's head, spray it on your hand and wipe it on so you don't get it in her eyes or nose. :)

If the bugs are really bad, you might need to use a light misting daily. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure every 3 days or so would be enough.

You might not have these in Indonesia.....yet! :) It's a thin sheet of fiber with fabric softener imbedded in it that we put in a clothes dryer with the damp clothes to soften them. It's used instead of the liquid fabric softener that is put in the rinse cycle of a washing machine. :)

Thank you moondog... yes, we don't have that kind of sheet, we have the liquid and spray ones :)

Do you mean the fabric softener could be another mosquito reppelant?? For sure it would make them good smelling. ;)
If I put some liquid softener to a towel and wipe it on my dogs is it going to be the same with the sheet one ? :p

I don't know if wiping the liquid fabric softener is a good idea...wiping with a dryer sheet would only contact the outer layer of their coat, but the liquid might soak in and have too much contact with their skin. Maybe someone else has a better idea about whether that's a good idea or not.

I'd go with the Skin-So-Soft in a spray bottle...it smells really good, too, and I know it won't be harmful! :)
