Grinders?

Do any who feed BARF grind their bones? What brands do you use? Any that you would stay away from (burn out easily) ?

Thanks!

Gretchen,
My step-mom grinds all her chicken since she has some geriatric dogs and feels it's best for them. I know that she ordered a restaurant quality grinder for about $300--which in the long run probably isn't too bad of a price.
She lives near lots of chicken processing plants so she and her neighbor get the carcasses for 19 cents/lb. and once a month they lay out plastic on the garage floor and grind up all the chicken the deep freeze will hold!
I'll ask her what brand it is and how exactly she went about ordering it. They'll be up here this weekend since we close on the farm! :)

I gotta laff. I have friends from Chicopee (sp?), MA and when they say "grinders" they are talking about hoagies. So, when I read the title of this thread I thought," What the hell? Is she feeding the dogs sandwiches?". sorry, back to the original topic now .

Most up here refer to those as "Subs" ;)

Michelle, I'd be very interested to hear, thank you!! :) I can get freshly boned backs at 40lbs for $12.

Northern Tool - the Maverick grinder - is one of the most commonly used grinders. I have a friend here who grinds for her three dogs, I'm pretty sure that's the brand she uses.

Hey, what's wrong with giving our dogs sandwiches? We're not sposed to do that...? :D
