cheaper source for ester-c?

I've been getting my ester-c for Rocky at GNC (General Nutrition Center), but their prices keep climbing. I like getting the capsules so I can pull them apart and just add the powder to his food. Anybody know any cheaper sources for ester-c (preferably capsules)? Thanks...Skip

stupid me...

I guess it would help if I tell you what I'm currently paying. About 8 bucks for a bottle of 90 capsules (500 mg each).

Hi Skip! Hello from another Ohioan :D I use a powdered Vit C with bioflavanoids. An 8 oz bottle is $12.95, or 16 oz for $19.95.
The recommended daily dose is 1/2 tsp twice a day, so this product goes a long way, and I think it's very economical. I generally only use a 1/2 tsp per day, and only add the other dose on days we have class, or other situation that may be stressful. I don't know much about the ingredients in Esther C, but I do know it's very popular. The product I mentioned contains
2000mg of Calcium Ascorbate, 1450mg of Rose Hips,
Acerola 1000mg, Lemon Bioflavanoids 500mg, Rutin 5 mg, and
Hesperidin 25 mg. You can check it out at b-naturals.com, click on the "Vitamins and Nutrients" icon. Best wishes!

cheaper source for ester-c

I buy all my dogs' vitamins at Puritan's Pride - cheapest place I've found. Its on the internet, and they're always having some sale - this month its buy 2 get 1 free. Sometimes there's free shipping. Their other sale is 40-60% off and free shipping. <g>

I buy powdered Ester C with bioflavinoids at The Vitamin Shoppe . A 1lb jar is around $25. However, 1 tsp is 2000mg (or 2g). So it goes a long way! :)

I don't know about the price but PetSmart has Liver flavored Ester-C in 250 or 500 mg tablets. I know you like the powder but the advantage of the liver flavored tablets is that the dog will actually work for them cause she thinks they are treats.

....

Thanks, but I like the powder because I mix it with his K9 Liquid Supplement and I think it gets to his system more efficiently this way. He drinks it in a small separate bowl right before his daily meals. He has other healthy treats that I use for training.

I have a "dynamite" Ester C

I use an all nature Chelated Ester C made by Dynamite Marking (www.dynamiteonline.com)

ESTER-C ®* is a patented Vitamin C product, also known as Calcium Polyascorbate. A unique natural process neutralizes the ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) for optimum digestibility. Research has shown that ESTER-C ®* is absorbed into the cells up to four times more efficiently than ascorbic acid. ESTER-C ®* is an ingredient in many of our products and is available separately for you and your animals. ESTER-C ®* is free of wheat, corn, soy, sodium, sugar, starch, yeast, caffeine, artificial coloring, flavoring or preservatives. It is suitable for vegetarians.

INGREDIENTS/ANALYSIS:
Each teaspoon contains: % U.S. RDI*

Vitamin-C 3600 mg 6000%

*U. S. Government recommended daily intake for adults and children 4 or more years of age

DIRECTIONS:
One level teaspoon or as desired of bulk product in water or juice.
Capsules, take as desired.

Available size: 1 lb. container (bulk powder) $59.95
240 capsule bottle (729 mg. Ester C per capsule) $39.95

I feed it in his food 3 times per week, and its just a pinch, you dont need to use much...I use the bulk powder. a 1lb container lasts me probably 6 to 8 months.

I was going to suggest www.VitaminShoppe.com also.

Try www.iherb.com. They have Ester-C in powder and tablets ranging from $6 - $22.
