| Switch to Innova After having Hershey on Medical hypoallergenic diet from Oct. to Dec., she does not seem to be showing any signs of allergies, and has not chewed her feet since about Nov. But, she has started having cracked and splitting toenails,I am assuming from the low protein in the Medical, which is 18% protein. So I decided to try her on a new high quality food with more fat and protein in it. We started switching her to Innova 3 weeks ago, and every time she gets up to about 75% Innova and 25% Medical she starts having bad gas, diareah and some vomiting later in the night. How long should I try to keep feeding her Innova before I can assume that she will not ever be able to tolerate it? I am running out of dog food options here, but would like her to be able to eat such a good kibble as Innova. We don't have Canidae here. She has had lots of digestive problems with dog food in the past, and I really worry about keeping her on such a low protein food such as Medical... she is very active. Does anyone elses pets have tons of problems with all kinds of foods??? Thanks in advance, again! |

| I don't have much experience with problem eaters (I feed raw) but you might get some other options here: http://home.attbi.com/~mstraus/dogfeeding.html FWIW, the ingredients in Innova look great. But way back (3+ yrs ago) when I fed kibble, I could never get past diarrhea & vomiting with Innova or Wysong.

| Even though Innova is a really good food, that doesn't mean it will agree with your dog. Since this seems to happen every time a significant percentage of the food is Innova, and since it's happened more than once, I would take this as a sign that there's something in Innova that your dog can't handle. I'd look for a different super premium brand, myself, and just accept that Innova isn't right for your dog, dogs are all different, just like people are, and some foods just aren't right for some dogs. Check the nutrition forum, there are other really good brands out there. Good luck. |

| Innova has lots of ingredients, and there just may be too many for your dog. Ask that store to get California Natural for you. It's similar to Canidae, but it's made by Natura, as is Innova. M2 |
