nutro large breed weight management vs. nutro lite

my female rottie lexus is currently eating nutro large breed weight management for approx 8 months now and still no weight loss and i am considering swapping to nutro lite i am not sure really what to look for on the bag that makes the difference in weight loss and i was hoping someone could help me out.

i already feed her less than what the bag reccomends for weight loss and she usually doesnt even eat all of what i give her. i feed her 2 cups in morning and 2 cups in evening. for a total of 4 cups a day. she is 3 yrs old about 24.5 inches tall and pushing 108 lbs. she ideally should be around 95 lbs. no matter what i do the weight does not seem to come off. i was going to swap to canidae because of what i hear on this site but i have had really great results out of nutro. and the price of canidae here is rediculous. $40 a bag after tax. should she maybe get 3 meals a day 1 cup per feeding or what please some suggestions would really help. if i do swap do i keep the same amount of intake or lower intake as well. any suggestions would help because i want to keep her healthy. i know the food is good her stool is nice and small and she has a lot of energy we play ball for at least 30 minutes a day and she loves to chase my remote control car around backyard. only for about 5 minutes because batteries dies but that is 5 minutes of pure running. going to call nutro tomorrow and see what they reccomend but i wanted to get the advice of some subject matter experts.

How much exercise is she getting??? Do you take her for good long walks?? Does she just go lay down and sleep after her play sessions? Remember, a good dog is sometimes a tired dog....

I feed Royal Canin Sensible Choice Natural Blend to all five of my dogs. If they were active, they'd get what the bag recommends, but since 4 of the five do little more than bark at the mail carrier, they get 2 cups per DAY (one cup in the morning, one at night). Those four belong to the in-laws, who live upstairs.

Four cups of the food I feed weighs one pound, which is what my in-laws were feeding the do-nothing-dogs. That's 7 POUNDS of food a week with no exercise to burn it off.

They asked why no weight loss and said they felt GUILTY feeding the dogs only 2 cups a day. Well, now they have a 7-8 yr old female rottie who is aout 15-20 pounds overweight and in serious need of a diet...said the dogs acted like they were starving. How can a dog be starving and gaining weight??!! My Ben is 3 1/2 yrs old, 24 1/2 inches tall at the shoulder and he weighs 85 pounds. The vet has told us he's a very healthy weight, so we try to keep him at about 82-87 pounds.

Anyways, back to the subject at hand. If she doesn't eat what you give her, take away the food until her next meal. Cut her back to 1 1/2 cups 2 times a day (3 cups total) and keep exercise level where it is, or even up it a bit if she can keep pace.

Nutro is a good food...if you want weight LOSS, a food formulated for weight loss would probably be better than a weight management food, I think :) .

If she's not losing weight on what you're feeding now, cut out extra treats, up the exercise and cut a bit of her food intake.

Good Luck! Keep us posted on her progress!!

The issue here seems to be exercise, as RottiMomCT alluded to. 35 minutes a day is not much exercise for a working breed prone to being overweight like a Rottie. I'd say keep the food where it is and up the exercise (remember, the key to weight loss is usually simple: put out more calories than you put in). You say "no matter what you do", but have you tried giving her more exercise, or are you just talking about food?
