| Feeding question Hey Guys! Here is yet another question on feeding. I have read all over these posts but still have a question. I know a bunch of you swear by certain diets. i.e. raw vs candidae, nutro, etc. My 18 m/o Rescue Rott is being fed Nutro - the maintenance stuff. (I think his previous owners were feeding kibbles and bits). He has never had a great appetite since we got him. I was adding in a raw egg for protein, etc but he was never excited about eating. Last night, I mixed some canned Alpo (yea, I know) with his Nutro and he scarfed it down in about 2 minutes. I gave him a second batch after that and he polished that off. I mixed the stuff by reducing the dry food by two cups and replacing with the Alpo. BTW, the ingredients in the Nutro looks like it has a lot of fillers. Question is, is the Alpo mixed with Nutro like this really bad for him? I don't mind spoiling him with stuff he likes as long as its not bad for him. Input, please? |

| There are better options than nutro mixed with alpo. 1) other things you can consider adding to the kibble to make it tastier and are much healthier than alpo: jogurt, hamburger, canned fish, sprinkle with olive oil etc etc etc, you can also buy canned dog food of better quality 2) consider better kibble than nutro. Dogs are different and have different favourite foods, but I am sure you will be able to find something that your dog loves and is healthier than alpo.
