elbows

i have seen rotts with the hair on their elbows worn down to their skin, i was told that it is from laying on cement. this looks, to me, bery unattractive, and i've noticed moto who is only 81/2 months starting to get this and he doesn't lay on cement mostly jus ceramic tile. is thier any thing i can do? does anyone else have this problem?

patchy elbows

All of mine have this. I've been wondering what causes it too! The only cement/concrete/pavement close to my property is the road and the cement patch next to the garage that I store my horse trailer on. Neither of these are resting spots for my gang. I've also noticed a small callous(sp?) underneath the thin spot of hair. I've wondered how to get rid of it but since I don't show them I've stopped worrying about it. It isn't painful to the touch on any of them so I'm content to let it be. I even went as far as to have the vet take a skin scraping just to be sure. If you find out a sure fire way to get rid of it though, I'd be interested. Not much help here sorry. :D

Those are pressure calluses (sp???) and they occur on all large breeds regardless of the surface they lie on. They are normal and highly visible on all of the larger (and some slighter) shorter-haired breeds. Don't worry...........

You won't find any in the show ring past puppy age that don't have them either.
