Evolve?

I don't know a lot about kibbles, I feed BARF. I can tell you what I like and don't like about each one though. The first one you listed (natural Balance?)...I like that it has 3 different meat sources of protein and some whole food ingredients. What I don't like that there are 4 different grains in the first 7 ingredients. That's too many for me. Also while it does have some whole food ingredients..ie dried kelp, parsely.. it doesn't have as many as I'd like.

In the second one you listed (Evolve) there is a better variety of whole foods and even probiotics added :) but I don't like the chicken digest or that the chicken fat is so far up on the ingredient list. JMHO. I haven't found a kibble yet that has everything I would feed and nothing I wouldn't. (Wellness comes very close, I had to feed it again this weekend) If I had to pick between the 2 you listed I would feed Evolve. The reason being the grains in the first one listed. One of my dogs has a problem with grains. I would have to buy a food I can feed her too. ;) Hope that helps you out some! :)

One more thing!

After re-reading your post I saw that you said you were thinking about swiching because your dog was losing his taste for your current food. I wouldn't switch if my dogs were starting to refuse to eat. By doing that you might be helping your dog develop into a picky eater. If you don't already, you could try fasting him for 1 day a week. Or try adding some fresh pulverized veggies for variety.

I'll go one better! Why not add some fresh hamburger? an egg?
canned mackerel or salmon? There are alot of really neat ways
to enhance kibble! Before I switched to a 100% raw, grain-free diet, I added a variety of fresh foods to my girl's food. When she
started leaving the kibble in the bowl, I knew it was time to switch
;-)

I have the same problem with Guido, she gets real picky with here veggies. I have to add sardines and mush them up in her veggies on some mornings. If she doesn't eat her veggies she does not get her chicken in the evening.

I should not have said 4 grains..potatoes are not grains. I still wouldn't be too enthusiastic about having them so high up on the ingredient list..

I always mix in something with their veggies...fish, organ meat, ground deer or lamb. Even though its their AM meal (usually when mine are the hungriest) they wouldn't touch their veggies with out some kind of meat in there. Now fruit...that's a different story. Sometimes I think they like melons and bananas better than chicken. Add yogurt to the fruit and you can see the drool hanging while I'm mixing. :D
